Germany Today - 15 June. Anyone been yet?

I am a bit anxious about going over the border today, to fetch my waiting parcels... I read that you have to wear a mask or scarf, has anyone been yet? It sounds more restrictive than here...

3. How to conduct yourself when in Germany?
Some establishments such as bars, clubs, theatres and cinemas may remain closed. Most stores are allowed to open, but access may be restricted. Also, customers are required to cover their mouth and nose i.e. by wearing a mask or using a scarf.

• Citizens must generally continue to observe a minimum distance of 1.5 metres; the obligation to wear masks in certain public areas also remains in force.

If you go into a shop, you have to wear a mask.

Just back from visiting OH in Germany, no issues but then I did not go shopping. I´d imagine the Paketshop has already thought of how to handle the packages. There must be loads of people wanting to pick something up.

Re: Germany Today - 15 June. Anyone been yet?

I was stopped at the border by a gruff-looking man in green coveralls with a hungry-looking dog by his side. While answering his pointed question about the purpose of my visit I noticed a black powdery residue next to his half-holstered revolver and upon closer inspection it also seemed the red traces around the dog's muzzle were quite fresh. Just as I was pondering this a black SUV with AG plates drove around me, tires screeching, and swiped the cars in the queue in front before crashing loudly into the decrepit zoll building. This made me raise my eyes and finally realize that the black amorphous mass I had already seen out of my peripheral vision was actually a sea of people and vehicles, stretching out to the horizon. Far off in the distance, pillars of smoke were rising and I could make out faint booming sounds, preceded by flashes of reddish light. I turned back to the man next to the car only to come face to face with the barrel of a gun and a pair of canines that were closing in fast. I wanted to scream but all that came out was a bunch of french fries and onion rings that somehow I had already bought at half price from the german burger king.

Then I woke up.

Ok, armed with EF courage... I did it!

Yes you have to wear masks, and better bring your own as the on site charges would have been very high to buy one.

Everyone was very happy to see the swissies back

I read somewhere that the Germans actually meant that they will open the border on Tuesday ("Ablauf" 15. Juni).

It seems it has not been the case, or they had to be soft with the storming incomers maybe :-/

It was supposed to be as from tonight. But as nobody properly read the communication and started organising all kind of activities, they had to move the opening to today.

Popped across the border to France to a Point Relais this morning, smooth - didn't see anyone at either border. High percentage of people wearing face masks however

I will be attempting a multi-border raid on Thursday (Switzerland > France > Luxembourg > Belgium). With a good stock of masks.

Re: Germany Today - 15 June. Anyone been yet?

Just returned from stocking up on German beer. I expected a bigger crowd so I was pleasantly surprised. I saw a German customs officer standing at Waldshut bahnhof smiling at all the alighting passengers from an SBB train. I smiled at him too. That was the beginning of a great day.

We have had a box sitting at Weil Am Rhein since March, it was shipped from Scotland and got here just as lockdown kicked in.

OH plans to collect it on Thursday, we just figured another few days was neither here nor there as it's mainly household stuff.
