Don't know about sexist, but nudity yeah. Absolutely no need for it on a shopping bag of all things and what the heck do they even have to do with the virus?

And it took 3 artists to make those? Heaven help them if that's the standard of their work.
Do you always take everything so seriously?

I couldn't care less about what Migros decided to play with on their paper bags. I remember they once had a philosophy theme, that was awesome. They're being deliberately silly now, I kind of like that.

Why did they have to toss them. They could have given them to Denner, which they own. Or to charity shops ...

The censorship case is a clear knee in front of the outrage society, in which the avoidance of a possible reputation damage for corporations like Migros removes any other argument, no matter how reasonable. The free representation of the naked human body would soon only be tolerated in pornography, which meant enormous impoverishment, especially for the children. Only recently was the artist rejected a sculpture for a school house because - oh fright! - contained the representation of bare breasts."
In other words they deliberately court controversy so they can cry out about censorship.

Love the use of the slippery slope fallacy. "ooo.... Migros won't display our 'art' on hundreds of thousands of bags, so that's the slippery slope to all representations of the naked human body to be only tolerated in pornography".

Muppets.

Migros commissioned them to make the shopping bag! So what are you raving about?

Art is seldom about anything else. Although most is not on recycled Migros paper bags.

My fav artist wouldn't do it differently though, I don't think.

Interesting view. Maybe you haven't noticed, but Denner's client base is....slightly more conservative than the one of Migros. And why should they recycle this idea to a cheaper brand/charity? I'd find that unethical. They'll recycle the paper period. If they decided to withdraw the bags with the controversial cartoons I trust them they did the right thing because they really know their business.

The idea was to cheer people up with something funny after the lockdown. Especially children

Migros does not sell alcohol. They know nothing about cheering people up

Re: Shopping bags-too sexist for Switzerland

Monopoly has never supported good business. Monopoly on artistic (or hormonal) taste neither.

I think Migros helped those artists big time. Not sure if it was intentional, but I can understand them. People do groceries with other needs on their mind.

Re: Shopping bags-too sexist for Switzerland

Jee, all of this over a mega stylized drawing of a recurring character by these artists on paper shopping bags? Why are we talking about porn in relation to this? It's a line-art cartoon, ffs. A silly one, at it. Check out what this atelier specializes on: https://www.mickry3.net/

They did an exhibition where they sold dildos. I agree, it's a bit odd that particular illustration in a shopping bag. But that's it. Now trashing them....that's dumb.

Maybe things are done differently in Switzerland? My friends that own businesses in the USA always proof the artwork before having the products made, whether it's t-shirts, paper bags or whatever.

And the same Migros decided to toss them because they probably think this idea isn't that good for their business after all.

Nothing to see here. I don't get the outrage. Migros has any right to do as they please if they think the idea won't resonate with (some of) their customers.
