Re: Another one bites the dust! (Interio Dübendorf bought by XXXLutz)

Since Migros bought Interio, they have been closing down from the end of last year.

One by one, their branches were having clearance sales, and they were quite good sales - starting with 30% off everything the first few weeks and then going down to up to 70% off everything if anything was left. I got a sofabed from the Emmen branch around Feb, and a few other things from the Dietikon branch just before lockdown. The lockdown just hastened everything I guess.

It was fun using the 15x cumulus coupons for some of the stuff...

XXXLutz has been buying furniture stores in Switzerland left and and right. It seems though that they're doing a good job. Their restaurants are always packed and staff are friendly and helpful. I'm glad that they're shaking up the market as Interio is yet another part of Migros. Give competition a chance.
If they did, how come I can only find one in Rothrist?

Can't say I will miss Interio, it has not been on my radar for years. It used to be cool but that was a very long time ago, imo.

Traditional Swiss furniture store (Pfister) is for the oldies, at the same time it is sad that Switzerland sells itself out to other countries and multi nationals and at the same time IKEA is cool.
You guys been asleep at the wheel? Pfister now also belongs to XXXLutz...

Are they going to keep Pfister going in locations where they think it will do well and convert the others to XXXLOLs or are they going the way of the Decathlon buy out of Athleticum and killing off the Athleticum brand completely?

I suppose the former - and depending on location and demographics of local customer base, they'll either convert or keep the Pfister store.

Re: Another one bites the dust! (Interio Dübendorf bought by XXXLutz)

I detest IKEA. Everything they have is just ugly. I never liked Interio either. I felt it was mostly about rip-offs of bad IKEA ideas. Pfister had some good stuff here and there (but it was rare), but whenever I was in their store near HB in Zürich, I always felt I was the only customer. I didn't buy anything of value there either. Too much veneer and shoddy quality. Maybe I picked up a couple of knick-knacks here and there. Made me wonder how they could survive in a place like that where the rent must be astronomical.

Maybe some consolidation would be a good thing, and hopefully open opportunities for a furniture store that actually caters for broader tastes.

Not mine in this case.
And your link also only talks about "6 Filialen in der Deutschschweiz" and gives no addresses of the shops.

In Zürich one is basically left with Migros Micasa or IKEA for any reasonable quality.

And I don't have to go to their store when I see what they offer online. When they reduce every article price by half then you can be sure its rubbish
Most of IKEA's furniture is now made in China!

I think Omtastas's argument was more that, if they can afford to slash every price by half, it shows what a profit margin they must have.
To give you an idea, look at the pricing of IKEA in Poland compared to Switzerland!!

What do you need an address for anyways? They bought them, it looks good on their quarterly statement, the investors are excited about the newly introduced expansion strategy and dish out big boni to the guy who approved the idea (not the guy who had the idea). In about 2 years, right before running costs become unbearable, the guy who approved the revolutionary expansion strategy (usually the brilliant CEO) moves on to the next company and pats himself on the back and gets the mutual approval from all the parties involved on the scam.

How do you know that Pfister and others can't do that?

Every house here already looks the same

Is your house painted pastel beige, pastel green, or pastel yellow?
Mine's pale pink with green shutters actually.
