Swiss lotto

Hello folks
I have been wanting to play Lotto in Switzerland since a while and I was thrilled to find the online option with Swisslos.ch.
However, I was not so happy to see that you need to load your account with a minimum of 20CHF, even though I plan to play only once so will use only 5CHF.
Are there any other ways to play it "online" without blocking 20CHF for it ?

Thanks much !
Tintin

Online no, but maybe it's possible to load in 20 and then take back 15?

Re: Swiss lotto

I think I may have been here too long. I saw 20CHF laying in the street the other day and I couldn't be bothered to stop and pick it up.
Really! Just play the whole 20CHF it will cost more in your time to do all the clicks to get it back.
OMG I think I might be ever so slightly grumpy today

Probably he knows the winning combination, so why throw away 15 chf, when you will earn only few tens of millions?

But if someone else gets it as well then you split it 50/50. So might as well use the 20 and get yourself a 80/20 split.

Re: Swiss lotto

If it has to be online, then play the whole 20. If you win, you can deduct all that investment from the winnings, when it comes to calculate the taxes; and 20 is four times 5 to deduct, so definitely worth it.

Now here's one who knows you only need to be lucky once. Might as well get it over with the first time!

Huh? Your share is not calculated on who paid more in?

Nope, they have two virtual "accounts", one with the money you paid in and a second one with your winnings. In principle, you can only take out the money in the "winnings-account", but there is a way to sidestep this limitation.

On the swisslos.ch-page you can play bingo against other players. If not enough players take part, the round gets cancelled and the money you spent on bingo-cards gets refunded to your winnings(!)-account. Late at night most bingo versions have no players. So you just join one of the empty bingo-rooms, wait to the last few seconds, so nobody else can join, place all your money, watch the round get cancelled and then transfer your "winnings" back to you bank account. What could be simpler?

You could just go to any kiosk and just spend the CHF 5.

LOL. Don't know if simpler is the word for this but I like the creative thinking to get where you want to.

You do know, playing lotto "once" is not possible for a long time now? Once it was Fr. 2.50 (still is for one row of numbers) - one day they decided the minimum is Fr. 5.00, ergo you must play twice.
Just like Eurolotto went up from Fr. 3.00 to Fr. 3.50 and now you must have a "second chance" you never wanted.
So good on you, keep finding legal loopholes, they're the best.

Pfffft, useless.

After the 1st million, 35% will be withheld due to withholding tax because it is taxable as income.

Re: Swiss lotto

On Swisslos it says:

To play Swiss Lotto at swisslos.ch, you must:

Be at least eighteen years of age,
Be resident in German-speaking Switzerland, Ticino or the Principality of Liechtenstein,
Be registered with swisslos.ch, and
Have a balance of at least CHF 5.00 (i.e., the minimum stake) in your account.

So, what about French speaking Switzerland?

Then you have to play at loro.ch (including if you live in Oberwallis).

Re: Swiss lotto

Different company - Lotterie Romande - www.loro.ch

Swiss Lotto is a joint game between the two (a bit like EuroMillions is across Europe).
