We have the older version of this and it's been solid. Noisier than some alternatives but built like a tank and very powerful. Businesses around here generally use this or one of the more expensive models (WD4,5,6).

Re: Need a new vacuum cleaner

I'm beginning to think the advert "stop cleaning start swiffering" has a point.

While a hoover is great if you got crumbs lying around, it never really does a proper job. I just experienced it again. I hoovered, then went across the floors with a swiffer and the dust (and pollen most likely) I collected was immense.

So I would say, any hoover that actually sucks things up will do (and no, swiffer can't replace it totally) but after you should swiffer - it is quick and picks up the actual dust.
Yes, it's way too expensive but if you keep an eye on "Aktionen" it's fine.

I really believe I do deserve a bonus from swiffer, I published it's name 5 times in one post and my advertising is even genuine

I have a robot vacuum cleaner, just switch on and away it goes whilst I drink tea and get on with having a nice life
Seriously, I wouldn't be without it in summer when it's too hot to hoover. It's great for sweeping away dead bugs as well.

I have a Dyson Ball back at my house in Scotland, 2nd Dyson I've had and I wouldn't buy another, way too heavy for a start. My sister swears by her G-Tech Air Ram, but they're really noisy.

Anyone any idea why the Miele is 6 times the price? Just the noise difference? I always thought these Karcher ones were not for in the house but after reading I can't really see why not. Any drawbacks?

I am happy with our Dyson canister vac. Their service is fantastic. About a year ago the vacuum head broke. The customer service department sent me a new one, no questions asked.

The Miele posted is the top of the range model with HEPA filter and every function and accessory thrown at it. You can buy a new Miele from CHF129

Re: Need a new vacuum cleaner

I have a Miele cat and dog - works great on hard floors if you buy the hard floor attachment. Mine must be 8 years old and itís fine. I also have an iRobot that I like because it goes under stuff. Mine came with a mop/sweep contraption that uses swiffer pads. It;s again useful for going underneath stuff.

But, I connect nothing to the internet.

I know you can get much lower priced Miele vacuums, I'm just having a hard time seeing the pricing difference between these two. I mean the Karcher seems to have more functionality (vacuming water, bigger parts, being able to blow) not less. I must be missing some relevant functionality here, hence my post in the hope someone would point it out.

Appearently HEPA filter is one. What are the relevant others which explain this extreme price discrepancy?

You can use the Karcher in the house. It will work. However it is bulkier, heavier, louder, and the exhaust could possibly disturb delicate interior items. If you use it often or for extended periods those things can get annoying In a household interior.

If you have room to store it and donít have to carry it up and down multiple flights of stairs it may work out ok. Iíve used all manner of vacuums in the house and there are noticeable advantages and disadvantages to styles.

Do you have a garage or workshop where the Karcher could be handy? Do you need a wet vac capability?

I have a large balcony for which I think it could come in handy. There's also an (outdoor) closet there where I think I could store it? I live in an appartment so no different floors unless I want to clean the keller or parking place.

Just never considered a more industrial style vacuum cleaner before as I though it would be more expensive for features I don't really need. (could use a broom outside). So mainly curious whether I should seriously consider a Karcher style vacuum.

Re: Need a new vacuum cleaner

Be aware that we're no longer in the good-ole-days. I think all vacuum cleaners now are limited to 1400W power. Our last cleaner is a second hand 2200W Miele bought used off ebay. New vacuums suck, or rather they don't.

We do this before washing the floors, because they must have absolutely no dust otherwise you paint it around... normally it's not needed.

During the pollen days, I could see the clean trail of my vacuum

You can lower the price by ignoring some accessories, the battery-powered control handle and so on, the base model should be rather affordable. But still a bit expensive; the excess is probably a bit of brand, but so far I would also say quality. Hope it stays like this

It's max. 900 Watt actually since 2017.
And it's not the Watt that does it - it never really was.

Re good ol' times: The first Miele hoovers () in 1927 had mere 240W.

Checked out the Senator. Nice vac! Strange that Fust is the only one that sells a remote controlled Miele in all of CH. Or am I just not finding any other dealer that sells it. Not even the Miele on line shop has em.
