Most affordable German course?

I am trying to learn German but I don't like online language learning, so I was hoping to find something affordable in the Vaud area.

Anyone know a place?
Thanks

Re: Most affordable German course?

Define affordable. Cheap isn't always quality.

Intensive courses will cost more than less intensive ones. Private or smaller groups will cost more than larger groups. It very much depends on your learning style.

Migros Klubschule is quite popular as a starter, because it's not terribly expensive and you can get a feel for whether a classroom setting will work for you.

Migros Klubschule also tends to have many locations, making it more easily accessible than smaller schools. I took my first German course with them after I moved to CH.

Inlingua has locations in Lausanne and Geneva. Prices on the website.

Berlitz also has locations in Lausanne and Geneva. Prices aren't transparent on the website but you can email or call.

Espace Allemand is in Pully, and prices are on the website.

There are probably many more, but these are the ones I could think of.

Re: Most affordable German course?

I'd say - Migros course quality is really depending on the actual teacher. OP - try Universitaire Populaire in Lausanne, the cheapest language tuition I have found. Complete it with language exchange as I did, you can organize a group of FR/EN speakers through our event calendar. This way you could have a class every day, for a fraction of investments.

Re: Most affordable German course?

also, ask your HR people.

Where I work they offer subsidized langauge courses. I think phyically you still end up sitting in with everybody else in one of the language schools mentioned above, but if HR book it for you, they subsidize a percentage.

It's worth asking.
