Is there a swimming pool suitable for a beginner in Zurich

Hi all:

I am looking for a public swimming pool around Zurich that is suitable for a beginner, which means, there is a shallow area where you can stand. Any recommendation, thanks

For instance the Hallenbad Altstetten.

That said, you may want to look for beginner courses and go from there, they're definitely worth the price. E.g. select "Schwimmen Erwachsene" (under "Sportarten") on aktivsport.ch and set the filters "Grundlagen 1" and "Basics 1" (available under Filtern/Stufe).

I use my local pool in Dübendorf which is standable if you're about 1.8m tall on the ends. But for teaching the odd person I just wait until late in the evening or for bad weather and use the kids pool which is about 1.2/1.4 m deep and plenty wide enough.

Similar advice to above. My husband is a trained swimming teacher. He once had a class of women where the average age was over 70. They were friends who decided together to all learn to swim so they could improve their fitness and feel comfortable in the water. It's never too late to learn. Pretty much all the pools have shallow areas or learn-to-swim pools. Do you want heated or outdoor / cold ?

So you wanted to go down the Limmat, but you can't swim

If you are not even happy in the deep end, you really need to get some lessons, you won't be able to just figure it own alone if you are totally uncomfortable in the water.

Holy moly, that would be completely irresponsible!

OP, do avoid going on/in a river or lake on your own, always have at least one companion. Water is fun, but it's also dangerous. And do follow the Rescue Swimmers Association's recommendations.

This isn't a pool, but an adult can swim and stand in the swimming area Tiefenbrunnen at lake Zürich in the Rondelle. It is kind of a pool that sits in the middle of the lake.
