I generally feel consumer protection is quite weak in Switzerland, especially compared to my home country (Denmark) where this kind of practice would definitely not be accepted (and punished with a fine by the consumer right protection agency - a branch of the government)
No, most people read before they order and use common sense here?

Thought you just arrived here so where does your experience come from?

What kind of practice?
Offering a product, giving detailed information about delivery and import costs?

Are you saying () you don't have online sales in Denmark?

But this WASN'T a SWISS WEBSITE or COMPANY?

What do the Swiss have to do with sleazy EU companies?

So how exactly would you propose to protect people from themselves? All of the information was provides, the OP just could not be bother to read it.

What is your solution that make people read the terms of a contract? Multi choice quiz? Have their doctors certificate them as being responsible adults??????

Nonsense. This is a business to business web shop based in Germany, they are not hiding anything and they are not breaking any laws in Switzerland or in Germany. The OP unfortunately assumed it was a Swiss company and that there wouldn't be any import charges, a simple mistake on his part which I am sure he has learnt from.

Anytime I see zero VAT, I look at the fine print. Simple.

And on this particular website, it is not even in the fine print, the info is right there on the main page.
