Re: How is wearing the mask rule followed in your canton?

Nobody wearing masks in the Seewen shopping centre, and social distancing isn't being adhered to any more either. Apparently we're all very healthy here and completely immune in Schwyz......sigh.

Apparently people have to be told they must do it. As the numbers continue to creep up, more and more cantons will follow Jura, Vaud and Geneva.

I went to Zürich zoo today and that’s exactly my impression. I was actually quite surprised, as normally the Swiss German part is much more serious (and tedious) than us Welsch!
True, but in regards with wearing a mask.... I see fewer and fewer people doing that. If you wear a mask in a store for instance you're some sort of freak show. Public transport is an exception though, haven't seen anyone not wearing a mask in trams, buses etc.
I think people have started to relax a bit too much if you ask me.

You needed care what the idiots think. Wear your mask, it will give you some protection and keep your distance, that will give you more. And wash your hands, there is no shortage of hand sanitiser, apparently the vingerons are distilling their wine into it.

I've been using hand sanitisers way before they were in great demand i.e. corona crisis.

Back to the topic of hand sanitisers - some stores started to get a bit...stingy. A few weeks ago, there were sanitisers at every entrance, at the self-checkout, cashier etc....not anymore. As I said, I personally don't mind because I have my own but I see it as if they don't care that much anymore.

I am a vigneronne in France and we have all put in our desired hectolitres that we would like to sell to La République to turn into hand sanitizer. Wine is like magazine subscriptions. It just keeps coming. There is no way to stop it. So, we have a bunch of full cuves (because restaurant sales have completely dried up and tourist sales at our chateaux have been hovering around 10%) and so what are you going to do with it? I can only drink so much!

France is paying us 90 euro centimes per liter. What is Switzerland paying? Maybe I should sell it to them because I'm sure it will be more than 90c!

I would not bet on it! My wine making friends in the village are up in arms because of the big supermarket stores have slashed completely the prices on Swiss wines... and of course the cut falls on the producers!

Re: How is wearing the mask rule followed in your canton?

Well in VD the other day I got on the bus to find two youths (16-20 age group) ducking into their t-shirts à la not wanting to be recognised after a robbery or similar. But in fact they seemed to be genuinely trying to use the t-shirt as a mask and stayed tucked in their for the whole journey, only peering out from time to time. No one said anything and they travelled the full bus ride like this. Dual t-shirt-mask may be a new trend of the younger generation.

Don't agree on the distancing. My impression is that most people are keeping distances, are not rushing while shopping. No masks. A few weeks ago in Germany the opposite: all masked up and rushing and pushing ... very unpleasant.

I'm sorry to hear about your misfortune...maybe try keeping/storing them for better times? It seems like a sacrilege to me to sell it for such a low price.

Re: How is wearing the mask rule followed in your canton?

In Zurich, about 90% of the passengers wear masks in the buses based on my observations. However, most of them did not wear masks properly. Some even put the mask below the nose ...
I do not understand why people do not wear masks in the supermarket. In principle it is quite similar environment as in the public transportation

Because it's not required.

Re: How is wearing the mask rule followed in your canton?

I confirm the observations regarding Zurich city.

The nice part of the story is that, while around 5-10% of people were wearing a mask on thepublic transport before the order to do so, now 90-95% of the people comply. I find it positive, that even when people are reluctant to do something, they still adhere to it when it becomes an order of the institutions. It's not something you can give for granted around the world, IMHO.

I think it also gets a while for people to get used to it, including myself. I now wear it also at the supermarket and in shops, even if it's not mandatory, while in the beginning I must admit was just doing the official bare minimum.

Some people don't wear masks properly, well, I'm afraid it's something it must be taken into account when ordering 8 million people to do something unusual and that does not provide any "user feedback". I believe it's part of the reason why a general mask obligation was never ordered in CH, together with the initial scarcity.
At the moment I'm happy enough that almost everybody tries to wear them, it still helps.
