Can you identify this creepy-crawly?

Seen around Zinal a few days ago, looked really strange as a creature, about 8cm long and quite agile. Thought it was an earthworm from the slimy appearance but the size, color and the red spike are quite distinctive.

Closest I can find is a hornworm (larvae of some kind of moth) but it didn't look like a caterpillar (couldn't see any "feet") and the resulting moth must be bigger than any moth I have ever seen...
