Consignment collection

Hello all,

I've just reveived consignment notice from Swiss Post. The collection place is surprisingly at Coop. How does it work? I never saw any post staff here, only a self-service for sending letters.

Thanks.

It's not unusual in more remote areas for a local shop to act as a sub post office, allowing you to send and receive parcels and registered letters, so I imagine this is what your Coop shop is doing.

Our local one is a Volg, as it happens, and includes a weighing/stamping counter which is the only internal sign of the Post Office function, but if you just take your consignment slip to the checkout and they'll find your package for you, in our case usually under the counter for letters or from somewhere in the back of the shop for larger parcels.

Re: Consignment collection

I have had to collect a DHL consignment at a bar in Italy.

Quite convenient, actually.

Yes, we get this with points rélais in France. Local to us here, just 4km away across the border in Châtel, is one at a dry cleaners that stays open till 1900 every evening; up in Alsace our preferred collection point is a bar in the next village, also just a short drive or cycle ride away.

Not at all relevant to the OP here, though.
