...This is my main problem with the quarantine regulation, it's not where one goes that effects whether one will spread the virus, rather how one behaves. It's prudent to be careful when returning from a risk area however it's nonsensical to be placed under house arrest.

Registering your arrival is tantamount to self-incrimination in my opinion. Sure work from home for 10 days, avoid contact with others, but why should you by fined anything up to 10,000 chf for going out for a walk?!
I might not agree with you often, but I agree 100% on this bit.

How can you renew your permit and attend an appointment when you're doing quarantine?
Because I am arriving back in Switzerland 12 days BEFORE the appointment... that's how.

Regards

Ian

Oh man, that really sucks!

A, ahem, friend of mine avoided quarantine recently for both the UK and Switzerland by via flying via a third country which was still open to both CH and UK. So long as Switzerland retain the policy of keeping the border with neighboring regions open this will always be a possibility for incoming travel.

Fantastic.... yes, we have already more than enough people who do not care about the rules..... and do not care about others.

Most of the rules are just band-aid solutions to make people feel better about themselves anyway.

I thought Switzerland had closed that loophole now.
The Swiss approach relies heavily on the integrity of the travellers and there will always be people seeking to by-pass the rules.

Sorry but hahaha. Have you seen the air traffic stats? People is traveling a lot less https://www.eurocontrol.int/covid19

It looks like the band-aid solutions to make people feel better about themselves reduced air travel by half, to be precise -88% back on April and -56% during the 2 first weeks of October.

It seems 50+% of the regular travellers care about 10-14 days quarantine, not getting paid if you're on quarantine and don't show up to work or getting stuck in another country if borders are closed, cancelled flights, etc.
