Great. Now that I am in Tuscany not only the weather starts getting questionable but also as of tomorrow I have to wear a mask when outside and at any time. This is really annoying.
Despite being annoying do you have any other reason not to wear a mask and keep your distance? Masks are certainly not perfect, but despite being annoying they are useful. And even if they are not, what do you have to lose?

I am keeping distance and I have no issue wearing a mask in indoor settings where they are indeed effective. Wearing a mask outdoors, maybe even in sunshine and in a breeze, is absolutely useless and only serves to annoy educated people.

Oh, and of course many people here are already voluntarily wearing a mask outdoors, many of them below the nose ...

Is It so difficult to follow the rules? Italy went through a national tragedy last Spring, some parts of Italy in the north lost more civilians than during WWII.

Címon guys. You are not wearing masks to protect yourself, you are wearing masks to protect others and to protect the economy.

They may be annoying but some here already are.

Iíve been to both countries recently- I know it goes against all stereotypes but the Italians took the measures ten times more seriously than the French. Im not saying thatís the sole reason why the current wave is a lit worse in France than Italy, but it certainly helped.

It's brings governments into disrepute when they put in place ineffective measures. And that makes people question more sensible and effective measures too. I understand even if nobody else does.

Re: Italy - Face masks.

Masks must now be worn everywhere in public, in the street, parks etc. We drove into Italy yesterday at Ponte Tresa and were not wearing a mask, the border guards did not stop us. In Ponte Tresa itself I'd say 1 in 5 were not wearing a mask. The local rozzer was but he stopped no-one. Will be in Como today with my son and will report findings there.

No. I say no. Definitive no. I won't visit Italy and I won't visit any place that introduces such measures. Take your 'national tragedy' and put it where I think. This is absolute nonsense and has nothing to do with common sense but with blind obedience.

Thanks for this.

Also, on entry to Italy, do the border guards ask for a completed questionnaire?

Then I suggest that you leave Switzerland, as similar measures are here, or will be soon.

Italy does NOT require it outdoors in general, just if there are others nearby.

Well, I guess this depends on your - or rather the cops' - definition of nearby.
