Well, I guess this depends on your - or rather the cops' - definition of nearby.
Or if you can read Italian instead of Google-translated English.

Just remind me where in CH you have to wear a mask when being outdoors?
If you are at a bar or restaurant that is outdoors and not seated, for example.

Re: Italy - Face masks.

This is going in the direction of
- the Canadian government's suggestion to consider glory holes if sex with more than one person is absolutely necessary and

- the Californian government's suggestion to put the mask on between bites while eating.
I hope that our Italian friends will engage in some widespread civil disobedience. Personally, if it comes here, I don't to plan to take it on the chin, foreigner or not.

Obviously all foreigners too stupid to comply should be deported, as well as fined.

In the end we didn't go to Como, but in Ticino from 7pm tonight the wearing of face masks in all shops will be obligatory.

Is an open-air football field outdoors? Masks are mandatory https://www.badenertagblatt.ch/sport...aren-139390665

Personally, I wore my mask last weekend before entering the Knie circus tent. Technically the area where you can have a drink before the show is outdoors, but dozens of people around. Comparatively, it's the same density of people you find in any crowded zone reserved to pedestrians in any city center.

Your chin is too low, there's already an issue with people taking mask wearing on their chins as acceptable. Take it on your mouth and nose and there'll be no issue.

Re: Italy - Face masks.

Even governments don’t insist on mask wearing for no reason. I hope my post wasn’t misunderstood. I meant that in Rome they will fine you €600 without one anywhere, and I agree even if the amount is steep, in other words don’t risk being warned!

And to elaborate...I am a foreigner and should not have to be told, I wore one everywhere because (being a foreigner), I put locals at risk just by traveling itself. And I believe that if you can’t/don’t want to follow other countries rules whether you believe in them or not regarding face masks, then stay at home.

No. When forced to wear a mask, I wear it improperly. I enjoy the outraged looks from neurotic conformists.

I am keeping distance and I have no issue wearing a mask in indoor settings where they are indeed effective. Wearing a mask outdoors, maybe even in sunshine and in a breeze, is absolutely useless and only serves to annoy educated people.

Oh, and of course many people here are already voluntarily wearing a mask outdoors, many of them below the nose ...
And what percentage of any population in this world do you think qualify as educated people?

You're not special. We all wear it improperly: not perfect fit in the nose, not proper protocol for removal and disposal, reusing masks......anyway, even if not used perfectly it minimizes the reach of our sneeze fluids. So, thanks for wearing the mask when instructed.

Anyone who understands that if one is walking in a park and keeping some distance, a mask does not prevent any spread. I would love this number to be 100%, but I guess it is much lower.

And now please can someone teach me again that we do this to protect others and how can I be against that.

Re: Italy - Face masks.

One of the awful things to come out of this mask wearing business is the way people dispose of them. I see them in the road, next to, rather than in, waste bins and more tragic, last week I was with a friend on his boat in Lake Maggiore. In the middle of the lake we stopped to take in the scenery and floating or partly submerged I counted at least a dozen face masks.

I can't even blame the Italians for this as it was in the Swiss part and can only have come from Switzerland. Here the fines should be very high, not just for not wearing the mask but also for their incorrect disposal!

I look forward to your post in a few weeks complaining about the fine.

If only there was a fine for stupidity.

Re: Italy - Face masks.

Appreciate all the updates! We plan on driving to Italy next week. Are the rules consistent from area to area? I have no problem wearing a mask if that means I get to enjoy good food, beautiful scenery, and fewer people in Italy.

We went to Versailles and Giverny a month ago. Masks required everywhere inside and in the gardens if you were near other people. The last time I was there, it was ass to elbow with thousands of sweaty humans. This time? An empty Versailles and Hall of Mirrors. Same with Giverny.
