In the Activ Fitness gym at Bellevue, plexiglass screens separate the treadmills and only one elliptical machine and masks are not required on theses machines. But, everywhere else, they are required (Note: not sure about the group fitness sessions as I don't take part in those).
All I can say, is that I try my best to get on that one elliptical machine as the window in front of it is always open and it is surrounded by plexiglass. Not the case with the other treadmills where the windows are not ajar. Needless to say, I need to "time" my gym workouts to get on that "sacred" elliptical as, go figure, it is extremely popular.
I have asked the staff, why the other elliptical machines do not have plexiglass but they are just as flummoxed as I am!

Especially in January when the gym had a sales drive to get the new year’s resolution crowd. The nice thing about running in the forest in winter is there are never queues.

I tried last April and was making progress but somehow managed to trip over a tree stump in the pavement (yes I was listening to music and NOT focusing) and really fell hard to the ground. My right hand took the brunt of the force as did my knees and elbows!
I ended up with swollen pinky (probably broken and tendons affected?) Not sure as my OH, told me to tape it and forgo going to the Hospital given COVID. He has broken many fingers thanks to his rugby playing days...
Anyway, 6 months later, I have more mobility in that pinky but I think it is not quite right (my extension/flexion is limited). I am too scared to get surgery as I am in no pain but my motion is limited.
Sorry for the digression, but maybe I need to start jogging outdoors and look at my feet/the path going forward...lol | This user would like to thank for this useful post: | |

I saw something tragically funny last last, a guy's mask strap broke in the gym, he went to the desk and bought a new mask from the counter, and proceeded to wear it beneath his chin. Why even bother?

That they might not be in any way suitable for purpose is beside the point.
I'm yet to see a log magically transform into a squat rack with another log perfectly positioned across it with just the right amount of weight for me.

Indeed, the kids that live close to my home who built themselves an MTB trail with drops and jumps where notified by the local forstverwaltung about their illegality of lifting rocks and logs in the forest.

Study in the NY Times today (sorry paywall) that shows that wearing a mask makes no discernible difference for those taking total exhaustion tests.

After years of being almost addicted to gyms, I started jogging last April. At first I could barely jog for 20 minutes but I now manage a 55 minute jog three times a week. It is more challenging than going to a gym, then only real problem is running on hot sunny days.

I have been to Migros gym and 90% of people are wiping down machines dumbbells etc before and after so works quite well. After a couple of sessions wearing the mask it is no bother, a bit like getting used to a bike Without stabilizers. If you can’t run 5kms with a mask on you probably have the Chinese Virus.
