My first thought is "Why Barbour and not Belstaff?". I got over 15yrs wear out of my last Belstaff waxed jacket which was worn daily for 9 months of the year when walking my dog, and was treated annually with Nikwax.

To answer your point though, I did exactly the same when we bought our freezer.
Second this! Belstaff wax jackets far nicer and more stylish than Barbour, the new range is fab! Also a lot dearer though

Re: Anyone else think like this?

I like wax jacket smell. Motor oil overalls. And tall rainboots. All seem to be really trendy these days, too. Lumberjack days are back.

Which means there will be cheaper knock-offs. But in my experience, there is a reason why these expensive things are expensive, they last.

My goodness! I had never heard of the term "wax jacket" until now.

I had one, lasted only a few years.

Re: Anyone else think like this?

As it stands with lockdown bollocks, you probably won't need anything more than more pyjamas at this rate.

Wait until the sales. Or the liquidation sales as firms go tits up.

But Belstaff products are now made in Romania and China, even though they boast a British heritage.

Barbour is still made in England, though some of the more modern products are now made in Portugal!

Re: Anyone else think like this?

No, but I do have a different dichotomy. For me, after 10 years in CH, my head says that I should accept the high Swiss prices since I earn a high Swiss salary. But my gut tells me that the Swiss prices are just too darned high. So i end up on idealo.de and get items delivered to MyPaketShop.

Re: Anyone else think like this?

I had a Taylor Stitch Rover jacket. I wore it during the winter as a layered option, and I would say that it was well worth the money.

Re: Anyone else think like this?

Slathering goo onto mediocre fabric should not excite anyone in 2021, but it still does. Because traditions....and social signaling.
Get a LV bag with that jacket.
