| | Can we leave the country when workpermit is processing
Hello Friends, Hope you are doing well..
I need some inputs from you. I am currently staying in Zurich on a restricted B permit (bound to the employer). There is a company in Basel who is willing to sponser me a new Permit from Basel. So my question, is it possible to move out of Switzerland when my workpermit for Basel is underway(as it may be too expensive to be here without job).
If it is possible, do i need to de-register in the current canton or can i leave without de registering? Thank you in advance!

It looks like you want to leave for a few months to save money. If you want to leave but not de-register, you'd still need to pay health insurance for November and December. If you de-register you'd be off the hook for insurance. I'm not sure how things like phone/internet and gym memberships work with de-registering.
Have you given notice on your lease? Generally lease terms don't allow folks to move at the end of December. If you haven't given notice, you're on the hook for Nov and Dec rent anyway unless you can find someone to take over the lease.
In the end, I'm not sure how much you'll really gain by leaving now vs in December.

Yeah to save time and money incase if the work permit takes few months which i am not certain about. and also my question is - are we allowed to leave the country during the workpermit processing? would this have any impact on the workpermit processing(with or without deregister)?

I think if you leave, you would need to apply for a type D visa in your home country before you are allowed to re-enter. If you stay and a permit is approved while you're here, you don't have to leave to get a new visa. I'm not sure if that sways you one way or another.
However given the backlogs with the Coronavirus situation, I would say the odds of a new permit being approved within the next few weeks aren't stellar.
