Hi, I am a UK national but have home in Switzerland, but not residency or work permit.
If you are not a citizen or a permit holder, then you are a tourist as far as the authorities are concerned. First step will probably be to open the land borders within Schengen and then a Schengen decision on third countries... a lot will depend on how the initial steps work out.

I think there are a few EFs in the Grisons. Perhaps one would be willing to check your flat.

Re: Open Borders?

Thanks all, understandable in the circumstances. Fortunately I get on well with my Swiss neighbours, so will twiddle my thumbs until the borders reopen.

Re: Border closure - Covid 19

I have a related question on covid-19 testing and travel (many countries now require a negative test certificate to allow one in without a quarantine). Do you know where you can get tested in Zurich, if you don't display any symptoms and it is just for the purpose of crossing borders? Also, have read this article which says that the lab test cost should be now capped at 95CHF, any experience with that? Thanks.

Which countries do that? Do you have a link/an overview?

Re: Border closure - Covid 19

Does anyone know the current rules of leaving CH into DE (non-German, swiss resident)?

I know their Schengen exception was set to expire May 4 and they havent updated it yet.

I haven't seen my girlfriend in Munich for 8 weeks and was hoping to drive in on the 4th finally but theres so little clarity on the border situation im wondering if anyone has experience?

AFAIK you will not be allowed to enter the country unless you are German, have a German residency permit or can show you are only transiting. Have not seen or heard that BMI has changed anything (although I hope they do soon......).

Re: Border closure - Covid 19

a colleague working here in CH, German nationality, went for a long weekend to Germany; no problem exiting CH and no problem returning today
but she can't get a permit for her partner (german nationality) to visit her in CH since he's still married on paper to his "ex" wife so their proof of relationship isn't accepted by CH

Re: The Swiss-German Border Closure: Any Developments?

As per this entire crisis, I am getting mixed signals about the borders:

https://www.bmi.bund.de/SharedDocs/p...til-4-may.html

The internal border controls with DE are supposed to expire today and there have been no updates.....

The border will be closed at least until May 15 th 2020

https://bern.diplo.de/ch-de/service/05-VisaEinreise
The May 15th date is for travelers coming from outside Schengen.

The May 4th date is for the closure of the "land borders" with some of the neighboring countries.

No news yet. https://www.bundespolizei.de/Web/DE/...home_node.html

So far the German borders are at least closed till midnight (expect for transit, emergency, and work related travels). Still some hours left for the politicians to come up with new measures.

Re: Border closure - Covid 19

I have a related question, air travel from the UK to CH maybe disrupted for some time, perhaps overland by car is better option. As I seldom drive in the UK, perhaps I buy newish used car in Switzerland for the cross Europe commute. Is it cheaper to buy in Germany than Switzerland? Where do I find the regulations for registering and owning car in CH? Thanks in anticipation.

Owning? No regulations, any one can own, sell, and buy a car. The formalities are exactly the very same if it is a Matchbox/die cast model car or an actual real vehicle.

Registering: https://www.ch.ch/en/registering-vehicle/ ,your local StvA/SNA https://strassenverkehrsaemter.ch/ , and your car insurance.

Importing, customs side general: https://www.ezv.admin.ch/ezv/en/home...itzerland.html
Importing, tax and duty free as part of your household goods: https://www.ezv.admin.ch/ezv/en/home...-effects-.html

Importing, registration side: https://stva.zh.ch/internet/sicherhe.../FZimport.html
Directive No. 1 https://asa.ch/it/biblioteca-online/direttive/

AFAIK, "Einkaufstourismus" (hop over the border to buy stuff cheaper) is still explicitly banned.

You won't be let in (it looks like she won't be let out either). The current regulation is valid until May 14:
"Travellers without an urgent reason for travelling are not allowed to enter or leave the country."

He's on a 'Booty Call', and after 8 weeks, I'm sure it's getting urgent.
