Swiss number plates:
AG Achtung Gefahr (Warning, dangerous)
GE Gueules élastiques (Elastic gobs)
VD Vas doucement (Go gently)

There are certainly others, so please complete

Some great jokes, but we’ll keep Ruth Dreifuss out! Not something you want to share with a bunch of pre-teens!

Btw anyone knows if Migros/Coop sell these marmites genevoises at the moment? I’m guessing it’s seasonal, but it’s not clear to me how early they are placed on the market.
Merci!
Marmites are indeed seasonal, being sold in the run up to the Escalade celebrations in early December.
They've been on sale for the past week in the Migros, not sure about the Coop as I've not been in one but expect they keep to a similar timetable.

Most common joke I ever hear related to the Genevois is that most of Suisse do not view them as part of the country
To which I always answer that they're free to reject the 300 million/year paid by Geneva for the péréquation financière.

My OH found it very strange when he first visited Switzerland, to see cars with VD numberplates - as a junior doctor

They are already in the Migros in La Côte VD, near to Geneva. On-line perhaps? I doubt they would sell them in their shops further away. It’s only the last few years you could get them in Nyon.

People from Fribourg are not reputed for being slow, but for being stinky !
Exactly. That's why the storchs are flying circles over Fribourg.

They need one wing to hold the nose closed.
