Skin up the French/Italian side and enjoy it easy all day on the Ch side? | | | | | Well if you skin up to Zermatt from Cervina, you’ll still be skinning as you won’t have a lift pass. You technically could buy a lift pass at Trockner Steg.... but they’d prob want to know how you got there without one in the first place!

Ha,
An update from America on the state of ski resorts in Europe. https://www.nytimes.com/2020/11/27/w...rts-covid.html
It says the same thing I posted to start this tread.
I fail to understand why the governments are handling this so badly. If we all took two week leave at the same time and well stayed at home, sure go for walk a run in the park, but within the family only. Everybody, bar some essential workers who need to be paid double their normal salary for not having a break, we would fix this.
Covid-19 doesn't have legs, isn't being transmitted by rats or the wind [yet].
No, we keep trying half hearted measures, let's close this and that here and there and see if it works. A dump arse policy that is driving the world bankrupt.
When I was young occasionally, very occasionally I would eat something that was not good and I would have an upset stomach. Did my parents experiment with different foods to see if one would be ok to eat, effectively keeping whatever nasty I had picked up alive... no they starved it to death, by insisting I eat nothing for 24 hours. It always worked 100% effective.

So after EU neighbours shut down and CH said it would stay open last week, local press in the last 24hrs say Bern faces diplomatic pressure and calls to also shut down over the festive period. So the uncertainty seems to continue....

Well let the EU countries (and Andorra) come to an agreement first, then ask nicely. Austria is still resisting and no idea where Slovenia is on this.

Tom | | | | | I hope they do. The less people moving around, the less covid-19 there is, the sooner its over.

To be fair on a good day the skiing in Scotland can be really good, but it's all really short and the good days are fairly rare.

His best 2 days of the season were in Scotland.

If the virus would be free to roam, it would be over soon. One way or another.
With restrictions there won't be only three waves, they'll be many more.

I love the fact that one can actually get seriously lost here between the beginning and end of slopes.
I still would like to ski in Colorado though, Dubai and Japan one day. I bet the ski cafe menus are nothing like here.

No I actually don’t think you want to ski in a four story box, with the chairlift attached to the ceiling. The snow in Japan is unbelievable though. I’d like to do that too.

Oh dear, did someone say I told you so. Will this be an isolated incident. no. Will they be closing this resort at Christmas. no. Will anybody pay for this. Yes, a number of individuals would have caught covid-19 and will pass it on to the general public over the next few days/few weeks. Some of those affected will die.
During the 2nd world war Switzerland was neutral. The sold guns to the Germans and the Allies at the time. They are the only country in Europe to be opening in the winter, because they think what that covid-19 will reconise their neutrality.
Sadly the shine of living here is wearing off a little. The inbred bones heads they got in charge are evidently even more stupid than I thought.
