| | Betta Fish
Hello All...
A friend is sending me 12 betta fish from abroad (Asia) , now it still in Germany, waiting for them to send it to me..
I already bought many basic stuff for the fish as they're better living separately..
However just now my husband told me that we cannot simply take alive fish home coz it'll need to be authorised..
Is it really have to be authorised to bring fish home to take care of..?
about the health of the fish, we use shipping company especially for sending fish, they do the check n quarantine them before shipment
What should I do to be able to keep them at home...
Any advice?
Thank you.

Thank you. | | | | | If the purpose is to only keep them in an aquarium there is no problem.
Anyway you can find all relevant info on - https://www.blv.admin.ch/blv/en/home...kultur-eu.html
"Neither a health certificate nor a TRACES notification are required to import aquaculture animals that are kept exclusively for decorative purposes in aquaria or closed garden ponds." https://www.speciesplus.net/
Species+ contains information on all species that are listed in the Appendices of CITES and CMS, as well as other CMS Family listings and species included in the Annexes to the EU Wildlife Trade Regulations.

is your tank up and running with a balanced ph already? Including plants, filter bedded in, etc?
Also how many litres?
Keeping fish is not easy.

Keeping fish is not easy. | | | | | From what I read Iam not sure 1 tank is enough for 12 of this species.

Perhaps a good resource for answers to your questions would be the Betta Helvetia club, here: https://www.betta-helvetia.com/ueber-uns
(Yet again I am amazed that no matter how niche your interest, in Switzerland there likely is a club of kindred spirits.)
I would guess the folks at this club would have the experience and practical knowledge to answer your questions on import and proper keeping.
The last is very important, as there are indeed regulations on keeping various kinds of fish, including aquarium size. Regs are often species dependent, so it would make sense to contact this club.
ETA:
Do take a look at this page on keeping Bettas - these do seem to have rather specific needs. Take a look as well as the FAQ and checklist. https://www.betta-helvetia.com/betta-info-s

As I was looking for this I stumbled across an article from the good folks at Fair Fish: http://fair-fish.ch/de/blog/2019/12/13/die-betta-holle/
Apparently there are some concerns about dodgy dealing in Betta fish. As always, to ensure you don't inadvertently become part of the problem, make sure your fish come from reputable sources.

Another good article covering important aspects of keeping Betta fish, from Fischwissen, whose mission is the 'artgerecht Haltung von Zierfisch': https://www.fischwissen.ch/de/fischh...ampffisch.html | The following 2 users would like to thank meloncollie for this useful post:

Thank you,..
My husband was worried that it'll create "problem".
As for the source of the fish I think its not a problem as they're the fish shop that rising fish on their own as well | Quote: | | | | | You are aware that they have to be cleaned, water changed etc on a regular basis right?
12 of them is a lot... | | | | | I was spending many days browsing of how to keep them and what's best for them, .. So, more or less I know, just need to put it into practice.. | Quote: | | | | | How do you get the stamps to stick?
All the preparation, checked, quarantine, documents etc was fully handled by the transhipper company... | Quote: | | | | | | | | | | Thank you..
