Charges for Covid test

Contact tracing contacted me about contact with an infected person and said i should get tested and present the email they sent me at the test centre.

I went to Permanence Oerlikon and got a test super fast in and out in 10 minutes then they sent a bill with 35 minutes of items. When i queried they said it was for infrastructure costs. I was under the impression test costs were covered if you had been contact traced. Anyone else get charged like this?

Quote:

Especially bold is to say that for any further email correspondence you will be charged.........

And admitting that they didn't tell you in advance - "could have been communicated better" is nonsense, either they told you something or they didn't.

I would complain to the BAG - this is basically screwing people off the back of a legally mandated requirement.

Tell them to cancel the bill, or you’ll contact BAG. You could also post it on Twitter to Blick or something... that might sort them out :D

Yes, I did find that mildly irritating to say the least.

The BAG information seems quite clear

To the BAG I go..

So basically this is either total ineptitude, or fraud by charging for the same thing to two payers.

Does that mean you can send the bill from the doctor to the BAG?

In any case, please don't do nothing.

For example, put in writing what you were told by the BAG, (with date and time of the conversation, if it was a phonecall) and send at least them copies of all the documents, and at the same time inform that doctor that you have been told by the BAG that you don't have to pay, and so you've forwarded the BAG the bill. Or something along those lines.

You don't want to end up getting a reminder (sent with a fee) and final warning for the bill from the doctor, in a few weeks' time.

Hope you're not ill, too.

Out of interest, how much are they trying to charge you?

Not sure what happened here, they are usually really good and when I got tested there under the same circumstances, I never received any bill from them. Did you provide your insurance card at the beginning? This is mandatory for them to be able to charge it to them. They refused to do the test on the person in line before me because that person didn't have their insurance card. Who goes to the doctor without an insurance card?

I wouldn’t send the bill to BAG. Just inform the clinic that you’re not paying and they should bill BAG. If you have your conversation with BAG on email, then enclose a copy.

Also explicitly refuse their fee for processing further emails in any correspondence.

132 of your Earth chuffs, 35 minutes of these 'laying on of hands, first 5 minutes' things, I expect it was actually less than 5 minutes I was in his office.

Oh yes, I explicitly said that, don't want to be assumed to be ok with that.

Medix Toujours used to charge me an admin fee for emailing to rearrange appointments, well ahead of time. It was like 15CHF each time (so I stopped going).

As for the corona test. I thought it worked like a normal doctor visit i.e. the costs go to the insurance and the insurance get the money from BAG. If you have a provider where you have to pay upfront, like Assura, then you have to pay yourself, submit the claim like usual then the insurance will refund it. It's not unusual for doctor's bills to have a lot of 'padding'.

Normaly a doctor is not needed. The majority of testcenters just test you without any medical consultation. So why a doctor got involved is questionable, since it was clear why he/she was there (email from contact tracing).
Should have been a pretty straight forward process.

Re: Charged for a Covid test sure contact traced?

I've done some research and all I can find is "BAG will cover the costs *for the test* provided certain criteria are met" It seems to say they will cover it if the test is done by doctors, pharmacists or BAG approved test centers. Whether supplementary costs for the "doctor's visit" are covered I can't at all be sure. At test centers such as at the unispital, there would be no "doctor's visit"

Re: Charged for a Covid test sure contact traced?

1.3. Laboratory analyzes and related services
In principle, the federal government bears the costs of the laboratory analysis and the associated costs and services. The federal government pays a lump sum of 50 francs for the costs of the
associated medical consultation or the corresponding expenses in one
Test center (doctor conducts every discussion on site and checks every indication). In the package the costs for the doctor-patient consultation, the smear, protective material and the transmission of the test result. The material for the smear is available from the laboratory and paid for via the order tax.
The federal government is responsible for the molecular biological analysis for SARS-CoV-2 in accordance with Article 26 paragraph 2
of the COVID-19 regulation 3 - 119 francs. The amount is made up as follows: 95 francs for
the analysis and CHF 24 for order processing, overhead costs and
Sampling material.
The federal government is responsible for the serological analysis for SARS-CoV-2 in accordance with Article 26 paragraph 3 of the
COVID-19 regulation 3 - 63 francs. The amount is made up as follows: 39 francs for the
Analysis and CHF 24 for order processing, overhead costs and sampling material.
If further analyzes are initiated in the same order, the laboratory fee of CHF 24 may not be applied and will be charged again at the expense of OKP.
In principle, the federal government assumes maximum amounts, which means that also lower costs can or must be billed. This, for example, in those cases in which a
Service provider has benefited from direct or indirect benefits (cf. Art. 56 Para. 3 - 4
KVG).

Re: Charged for a Covid test sure contact traced?

Group Mutuel write the following, but without any reference to the covid app.

Tests from June 25th will be taken over by the federal government without deducting any deductible or deductible. The reimbursement is made by the health insurance, which then bills the federal government for the costs. The invoices for coronavirus tests will be sent directly to your health insurance company. If you should still receive an invoice, the procedure for the reimbursement remains the same: You send the entire invoice to the health insurance company, which then takes care of the reimbursement. The costs for the test are only covered if the symptoms are recognized and if the test is carried out by a doctor / hospital recognized under the KVG or a test center provided by the canton. Recognized symptoms: muscle pain, fever, sensation of fever, shortness of breath, sore throat, sudden loss of the sense of smell or taste, cough (dry, irritating cough). Less common: conjunctivitis, headache, runny nose, indigestion.
