The Bellringers are out

It's "Triechele" time! A group of bell ringers is walking past my house as I'm writing. I love the sound and am happy the traditions continues....

Re: The Bellringers are out

at our flat in the UK, we get 1 to 1.5 hours of bell ringing every Monday evening- year round- we usually open the patio doors to get the full effect.
And 4 bells per quarter- so 28 bells at midnight- as loud as Big Ben

Re: The Bellringers are out

yes indeed, and that makes me laugh. I live very close to a Church here, we have a direct gate to the Church as it was the Vicarage- bells ring at lunchtime, and at 10pm- and on Thursday at 7pm- and once in a blue moon for weddings and funerals and very rare services.

Out my way (Ausserschwyz) the local Trychler don't come out until Dreikönigstag.

What are the various traditions?

(A neighbor is out most evenings practicing his whip, though. Not quite as tuneful...)

Re: The Bellringers are out

That is great.
I live in a smaller village and also enjoy the church bells.
When i visit clients that live out in the country we can relax and listen to the cow bells.
Swiss bells so unique and such a nice tradition
