Re: Where to experience cold weather?

It was minus 24 C at La Brévine last night- still a long way from its record of minus 41. 8. (12.01.87)

Thank you. A great idea as I've never been up there yet! But I just checked and... 195.- for the last bit, Grindelwald to Jungfraujoch? Ouch...
Interdiscount had decent discounts recently on offer (since black friday) - they might still be active.

You probably won't be able to drive high enough by car to get that cold.

It is now -4.9 °C in La Brévine, and -5.0 °C on the Uetliberg.

However it is still just -13.1 °C in Samedan and it was -27 °C this morning around 9am.

At Hintergräppelen it was -27.6 °C and currently -16.8 °C.

Re: Where to experience cold weather?

Yes, the sun has come out, but the windchill with the bise/east wind- is biting.

Re: Where to experience cold weather?

It was really cold in the mountains this morning but nice for snow walking. As of 10 it was quite nice with the sun. A good day to be in the mountains.

Heya,
All my life I have been dreaming of experiencing -20, -30 temperatures.
Now in the news they say some places had -26 last night.
Does anyone know where in Switzerland one could go by car, maybe 10-15min of walking, and experience such temperatures?
(Sadly I don't fit into the tiny ice box in my fridge!)
Borrow the neighbor's cabriolet and drive fast enough for the windchill to get you below -20°. Or roll down the windows in your own car.

The forecast for Wildhaus is around -15° tonight. That end of the Toggenburg is probably among your best bets if you're looking for an area that's not too far from Frauenfeld. It's also close to the suggested Hintergräppelen.
