1965 Grundig Hi Fi Console repair advice

My sister in law picked up a classic Hi Fi from anibis that sounds pretty good but in need of some repair - phonograph not functional and volume seems to oscillate between low and medium sound level

I wouldn't even know where to begin searching for someone to repair a hi fi - any tips or advice on where I might be able to procure someone like this?

The volume control likely has a faulty potentiometer. Cheap to replace.

The phonograph likely has a busted motor. Also cheap to replace.

You just have to open it up and get the specs from the parts in side i would think, then search online.

I can’t offer knowledge.

I hope a complement will suffice.

That looks great. Dare I say, even cool!

Here's some info on your Stereomeister

https://www.radiomuseum.org/r/grundi...ster_300a.html

https://luxuryradios.com/en/grundig-...eister-300-en/

From the second link:

"I personally recommed to play this device at 3/5 of its maximum volume.
The response curve changes according to the position of the potentiometer that controls and corrects the volume.
The shift from the section with volume correction to the one with no correction is fairly audible, that is the reason why it is preferable to maintain the volume under the said limit."

Re: 1965 Grundig Hi Fi Console repair advice

Around our villages here I have seen a few old electrical appliance stores that look like they are from the 60s so I would just call in (in person) and ask. You could also ask at the local community broki as they are also a world of knowledge you can't find online.

It's gorgeous in real, I am shocked at it's condition - that photo is a stock one, not the actual unit

Even with the unusual volume variation it's quality is very impressive, full & rich

I am jealous of it tbh, she bought it for 200 CHF - I think that's a steal, just wanted to help her get it repaired
