Yes, this has been a hard lockdown.
It's never been a true lockdown situation here, and far less this time than the first time.

Young people have lost one year out of their remaining decades. Older people have lost a whole year out of their remaining few. Life gets very, very precious when you realise you have so little left...
Or looking at it another way the pandemic means were 'all at risk' ( except maybe children under a certain age )
regardless, if you also add in those who survive Covid only for the consequences being that they end up living
with 'Long Covid' for months or years or even for the rest of their lives.

The vaccines produced so far only hope to immunise you against Covid-19 infection not cure you of infection once
you've got it & there's still no cure for 'Long Covid' either.

In what sense has anyone lost a year out of their life?

Would you still be able to survive (or thrive) if mass tourism ceases to exist?
Not where we are, we'd have to move house (and change careers), as our town only has tourist jobs.

Think of all the jobs that would disappear; Airports, Airlines, Ships, Hotels, Restaurants, Ski Schools and other similar activities - and many others.

It's the art of exaggeration. This is life. Not only good things happen.

If you have good health and money, this lockdown is like a holiday.

If you are a loner, than yes - but to many, there is more to life than being stuck at home all day. In the winter it is particularly challenging ... no, I am not into winter sports & never will be, especially now.

I do feel blessed to have a job and health though ...

Indeed, which is why I got to work every day (except Wednesday, I am still using up last year's vacation days), go shoping over lunch a few times a week, go have a beer or three outside the local shop on Saturday afternoons, etc.

Where do you shop? I thought all shops were closed except food stores.
Most people cannot go to the office because they have been told to work from home.

Food shops mostly. And shops selling essentials (make-up, garden stuff, etc.).

- Go for a walk in the forest
- Run
- Do fitness
- Eat like a pig, oink oink
- Work if you want
- Watch films, series etc
- Waste time on EF
- Talk with your loved ones live or online
- Cook food
- Drink
- Smoke
- Learn something
- Sleep
- Sex
- Kiss
- Talk

With the amount of possibilities modern technology offers, there is no excuse to moan. The Only exception is if you have medical issues or no money at all.

That rules out sex, then.

And you forgot cutting and splitting firewood, which I will start doing again when it warms up another few degrees.

For sure, and this is particularly tough for newcomers who have not had time to get to know people, join clubs or classes, made friendships and live alone- or are alone all day as partner going to work, or having to work from home. Young mums with kids at home or at school. Some people just have no empathy and very cold hearts, it seems.

Which is exactly the position the OP is in.
It is a really tough position to be in.

If you have good health and money, this lockdown is like a holiday.
Although for those with full time jobs but required to 'work from home' its a 'working holiday' although nothing to
stop your 'work from home' being 'work from home in another country' In fact a number of countries are tapping into
this new market, that used to be the preserve of the Digital Nomads, with places like Barbados and the Canary Islands
actively seeking out the 'work from home' market by offering 'work from home' visa's to Barbados.

Where they could be onto a winner, what with many businesses and bosses saying they want to include the ability
to 'work from home' for all office based jobs after the pandemic.

There's also the Irish backdoor to EU citizenship for those Brits planning to retire to 'A Place in the Sun' whether
it be Spain, Portugal, Italy etc & looking at a 10 to 15 year time horizon. By emigrating to the Irish Republic
under CTA rules, going for Irish citizenship ( after living permanently in the Rep. of Ireland for 5 out of the
last 9 years ) to secure Irish Passport & EU citizenship for their final move to Spain.
So 'work from home' meaning 'work from the RoI' starts the clock ticking early for them to hold down their
'work from home' jobs and yet start the clock ticking early for Irish citizenship before finally retiring.
