Disposing off fallen leaves/twigs

Hi everyone,

I relocated permanently to Basel around 3 months ago and recently took up a place of my own. The best part is that I have a personal patio at the back (my flat is on the ground floor).

However, this comes with its own set of maintenance work involved. There is also a huge tree there from which leaves would (most certainly) fall onto the patio floor, which I would have to clean up and dispose.

I have read the "Abfuhrplan" for my zone, but would still like to confirm/clarify a couple of things:

1. Is there a special bag that I need to purchase in-order to stuff the leaves in before disposal?

2. Basel Landschaft has some green waste disposal centres available for its residents, but I could not locate any within Basel-Stadt. Are there any here or do I call up the Tiefbauamt and arrange for the collection (along with costs, if any)?

3. Would I also need to trim the hedges/plant overgrowth? Are there any regulations associated with it?

4. I might also have to clean up the moss/algae build-up from the patio floor. Would this need to be disposed off similarly like the leaves or can I simply dump them in the Bebbi Sagg?

Many thanks in advance!

Re: Disposing off fallen leaves/twigs

Where can I locate green waste disposal sites? I will need to get rid of loads and don't want to do it over several months through collections through the green bins (gemeinde no longer accepts green plastic bags).

Looking for sites in Allschwil (4123) and Flurlingen (8247).

Re: Disposing off fallen leaves/twigs

For the plant maintenance part - it probably depends whether they are exclusively yours or part of the general development.

In the former case, you probably maintain them yourself, in the latter there will be a gardener paid by the factors for the development.

You could ask the landlord, check if there is anything mentioned on your rental contract (either that you must do the maintenance, or that there is a part of the nebenkosten for gardening), or wait and see if someone shows up and does it.

They accept green waste.
