Wow, you are the youngest person I know who has an appointment by about 10 years or more.
I was quite surprised as my brother is older and diabetic and hasn’t had a letter. He does live in a different NHS trust area though so that might be the difference.

Well if they had died, wouldn't that mean that they wouldn't be taking the vaccine?

Hordes have died, and have been replaced by young people now able to vote - but quite a few left still. And not all Brexiters were old either.

I assume the study that asked people if they wished to take the vaccine, was conducted with people who were still alive, rather than dead or brain dead.

I thought it was just old & rich tory party supporters who voted leave, but then I get my information on BREXIT from this thread I guess if they all vote for a party who wants a referendum we will get the answer to the question.

That notion is a logical fallacy with more and bigger holes than a Swiss Emmentaler cheese.

If pro-Leave is driven by age, those who die off are continuously replaced by less-old who get older by the day and therefore keep shifting towards pro-Leave.

I don't know the British age pyramid. But if it's largely the same as Switzerland's in that age range, the cohort of the less-old who are shifting toward pro-Leave by virtue of getting older is clearly more numerous than the old who die off. So over time pro-Leave should increase.

Not that it matters anymore, the votes have been cast and Brexit delivered.

If he is eligible now, he shouldn’t wait for a letter. He can go online and book an appointment. https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/corona...s-vaccination/

That service is only for people registered with GPs in England. We are up in Scotland.

I think he's happy to wait his turn though.

Interestingly, they don't follow the 3-week rule:

Quote:
Book your appointments
You need to:
have 2 doses of the coronavirus vaccine at 2 appointments
book both appointments at the same time
get the 2nd dose 11 to 12 weeks after getting your 1st dose

Interestingly, they don't follow the 3-week rule:
It’s been shown that the AZ vaccine is equally if not more effective when the doses are spaced out more.

I haven’t seen anything on the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines though so unless there are studies showing otherwise the manufacturer’s guideline should still be followed for those vaccines.

What's being dead got to do with not voting?

Oh sorry. Wrong country.

Rubbish. This one certainly doesn't, nor does anyone else I know who voted Leave. And on a technical note, Brexit cannot be 'cancelled'. It was enacted after a democratic vote and would need another referendum to change anything. And that certainly isn't going to happen anytime in the next 30 years so it's best that you get used to the new arrangement.

I think we're going to be drifting deeper into confirmation bias. Some people will twist whatever happens as a confirmation of their negative expectations. Even if that means failing to taste the soup because they are fixated on the hair.

And on the pro side of the argument the same thing may be happening too. We need to be asking ourselves, how can we remain objective and realistic in an environment that is asphyxiating any form of objectivity?

Interesting, but sloppy and biased reporting nonetheless.

The claim that the vaccinations are the reason, though plausible, should at least be corroborated by the equivalent charts from the first wave, and more importantly by the same charts from countries that started vaccinations later (there's plenty of that on the continent).

I don't think objectivity exists in this context, but fairness definitely does.

Someone famous once said something like "you haven't fully grasped the issue and can't form a fair opinion until you can argue both sides.". The equivalent of "audiatur et altera pars" in a court of law.

Maybe a result of letting non scientists confuse science with almost science.

Scientists know that a statistic is not a proof. Those without scientific training tend to be less rigorous in that respect. In this whole Covid debate we hear too many people using the word science in all sorts of meanings, but too few actually following it.

But that said, and without assuming any specific underlying reasons, the graphs would seem to indicate that things are getting better, which is surely something to be pleased about.
