| I'm wondering if we are allowed to put a tent in a public garden in Zurich (like Chinese garden for example) and enjoy the day there and go home afterwards (not camping). | |

This answer is apart from Corona, which brings its own rules.
I think that if you put up a tent in a park, nothing at all will happen, mostly. Someone might come and tell you that you're not allowed to camp there, either just some random passer-by whom means well or ill, or else the police.
Then, you can smile sweetly and say that yes, of course you do know that public camping is allowed only in camping-sites, and that you live nearby anyway, and you most certainly intend to go home in the evening to the comfort of your own bed. Today you're here with the tent just to make sure you have a little shade, and somewhere to keep your gear together while the kids run around, and perhaps you're practicing how to set up the tent and take it down, for the day when you can actually go camping, for real. The person will then probably nod in understanding, and go their way.
And then: really do take the tent down in the evening, and leave.
Also: don't put it up in the same park again the next day.
