Call me a doctor!

I feel like I should know this without asking on a public forum and embarrassing myself. It is a good job I have no shame.

But how would you see a doctor here in Swissland? (non emergency)

You are a doctor.

I called my nearest doctor and they asked who my hausartzt was, I said none and they forwarded me to another center they said will see me.

I really asked for that!

I am in the unenviably position where I am still under quarantine (3 days in), my mobile doesn't let me call outbound, I cannot even send sms - thanks Virgin Media.

I've emailed my Health Insurance but I don't know how quickly they will respond.

Re: Call me a doctor!

If you need someone urgently, you can always go to walk in clinics. There are a few in every major city.

Re: Call me a doctor!

Look for ärtzezentrum + the place you live. The result should be a place where several doctors work together and if you're lucky you get an appointment for the next day.

He can't leave the house? Can't call out, either. Email to the med center requesting a house visit should work, OP. Good luck.

Re: Call me a doctor!

Easy - you call the doctor helpline!

Artztefon:https://www.aerztefon.ch/
It is a paid service.

Just smile sweetly and say 'excuse me, I just arrived in Switzerland, do you speak English?'.... that works very well here...

If you really can't use the phone for calls, send me a personal message via the forum and I could drop you a swiss mobile phone with a prepaid card on it... your profile says you are in Wettingen... would that help ?

Not so.

Even in isolation (stricter than quarantine)
If you have to leave the house (e.g. to get tested or for a doctor’s appointment)
• Wear a face mask. If you are experiencing symptoms of an acute respiratory illness, do not wear
a textile mask.
• Wash your hands or use hand sanitiser before leaving the house.
• Avoid public transport. If you are feeling well enough, drive, cycle, walk or take a taxi.

Source.

From the quarantine instructions
If you have to leave the house (e.g. for a doctor’s appointment)
• Wear a mask3.
• Avoid public transport. If you are feeling well enough, drive, cycle, walk or take a taxi

Source

TL;DR whether under quarantine or isolation you can leave your home for a doctors appointment. Go to a drop-in centre.

Re: Call me a doctor!

In the last year or two onedoc.ch is the online platform for many doctors. You can see availability, see who is accepting new patients, and book online. I use it almost exclusively now.

Have I understood this correctly... you live in Switzerland, you're currently in quarantine at home in Switzerland, but you don't have a phone that can phone in Switzerland?

Here are some ideas by which you could possibly
improve your ability to phone
  1. mail your current mobile provider to upgrade your sim card
  2. mail a Swiss phone provider to see if you can order a new sim card by mail
  3. register for voip service paid for online
  4. mail your employer or a friend and ask them to post you a working Swiss sim card, by A-post, which will be there next morning (admittedly this means you'd have to go to get it out your letterbox, which you're not supposed to do while in quarantine)
  5. look on this thread https://www.englishforum.ch/daily-li...-helpline.html (unfortunately closed, although the needs are still, or once again, current) and choose someone who has offered help in your area, and see whether one of them could lend you (and deliver to you) a cheap pre-paid sim card
  6. ask one of the kind souls on that thread, or your employer, or a friend, to actually make the calls for you, but for that you'd need to choose whom you'd trust with your personal details.

That's because this person isn't real.

You can also get a VOIP prepaid subscription , download app : various versions available for PC/mobile etc ex https://www.voipalot.com/download/desktop/

once you create an account , you can buy credits and use it to call local and international numbers using the app.
