Re: Suggest Best Alp Views Locations ??
Wanted to thank everyone again for the idea of Chasseral.
Just this moment seems like a very unique time to view the alps range.
Because of the snow from of the rainiest Mays in recorded history, combined with the remaining cool air and foehn (making them look bigger), the white mountains stand out against the blue sky with particularly crisp visibility before the dust will start to hang in the air decreasing visibility with warmer weather in months to come.
The first photo below shows how we could see the entire range visible in Switzerland from Mont Blanc to Santis, with Eiger/Monch/Jungfrau towering in the center. However, the range photo doesn't really capture the view in person so I included a close up to give a better feel.
The Chasseral viewpoint was easy to drive (and bus) straight to and hop out of the car without having to mess with cable cars, etc. There was no snow on Chasseral and it's easy to quickly doublecheck the webcams in advance to make sure the skies are clear (but just those photos don't do it justice as in person). The outdoor terrace restaurant on top was open and serving.
So now's the time to make a quick run for a special view before it goes back to the same old normal spectacular view.
