But Zoe is member led and not the official data. Their daily covid cases map clearly states this in the header...

5 days with test to release, Boots do a walk-in quicker service (I hope, he says, sitting here on day 1 of quarantine in the UK , fully vaccinated (CH) - total utter waste of time and money. Thanks Boris, Greg and Matt..)

The discussion in the airport queue (Zürich, chaos at baggage drop, seemed completely overloaded, suprisingly..) was that the Swiss government might be removing the quarantine exception for fully vaccinated people travelling back from the UK..
I used Boots for the day 5 ttr (wasn’t walk-in but had booked a time first thing in morning hoping to have legal freedom asap). The nearest locations were not offering appts until after 20 July, best to check. Exercised my right to travel to test location which gave me a nice long bicycle ride

The result arrived 23hrs 47 min later.

If you do have to quarantine on return (hope for your sake you do not) having done this 3x when Sweden was still on the CH list it is much less tedious than answering the daily calls (0300 number) from Boris’ test and trace team

im flying home (Morpeth) for a couple of weeks on monday. i waited till the monday 19th thinking i would escape the quarantine and tests but as the uk isn't recognising the swiss vaccination certificate, looks like ill be spending the next 10 days with the family
I think everyone unfortunately thought the same! I'm booked for 8th August and just hoping in the meantime the government might get hit by a dose of common sense, alas we pleebs shall have to hold our breath

Good luck, and if you're back in Morpeth and not in quarantine enjoy a nice walk along the river

Amazed that yet another British Health Secretary, Sajid Javid goes down with Covid forcing Boris and
Chancellor of the Exchequer, Rishi Sunak to self-isolate after being contacted by NHS Test & Trace.

Makes me wonder whether there's a new variant emerging from Number 10.

BBC News - Covid-19 PM & chancellor self-isolate after rapid U-turn

Can you explain the mechanics of these calls? Theoretically you could be anywhere when they call, or is there also the spectre of a house visit?

It seems like anyone can get through the UK border at the moment, even some with either no covid test or amazingly a positive test result!!! Seems like there'll be way too many and they'll waive any kind of proper checks.

Although they could have caught me out, literally as well, after calls on day 2,3 and 4, I recognised a pattern re: time of day for the 0300 number to appear. Once they had called I figured I was probably (though not definitively) safe for the remaining hours (chanced getting caught for a 20:30 run to Itsu, the 50% before closing deal what my body needed I did a TTR on day 5, yet called on day 8…was conveniently too far away from phone to bother answering

They read a script outlining the rules, one is prompted to answer “yes” at appropriate points. The connection was usually quite poor and person calling rather unskilled at speaking

Correct

You lower the chances of home visits by answering the callls during first 5 days. The moment you did a TTR test you can ignore the calla completely.

TTR is not linked to PLF database as you don't have to provide TTR booking reference, so they have no way knowing when you get a result, they can assume it's same day.

Re: May 2021 Travel To UK Requirements Covid

I often wonder whether the authorities have some sort of GPS tracking the location of the mobile
phone at the time they call you, to check whether your really confining yourself at the location your
supposed to be self-isolating, otherwise you and your mobile could easily be 'out and about'
while still being available to take the call on your mobile.

I assume those that have the UK's Test & Trace App are having their mobile phone movements
traced but foreign visitors to the UK are not obliged to install it.
Also not having lived in the UK during the pandemic, is there any sort of 'legal requirement' for
British mobile phone users to install and use the NHS Test & Trace App ?

You can answer the call in the train on way to take Day 2 or TTR and its perfectly fine.

Wrong. The gov.uk page on quarantining specifically says you may not go out to buy food, you must go to somewhere where somebody else can bring you food. And no, yo may not walk their dog either..

https://www.gov.uk/guidance/how-to-q...ve-in-england:

"You must quarantine in one place for the full quarantine period, where you can have food and other necessities delivered."

"Shopping You must not go shopping. If you need help buying groceries, other shopping or picking up medication, you should ask friends or relatives or order a delivery or ask for help from NHS Volunteer Responders."

It’s pretty easy really.
Online order and delivery are pretty efficient in the UK.
Absolutely loads of people have quarantined in the UK and managed to stay alive without the need to go out to a shop.

Mate you dont need to tell me about "pretty efficient" online delivery in the UK.

Ocado Tesco Asda Waitrose didnt have a single delivery slot during 3 weeks and 2hrs online waiting queue even to get to a message that they dont have a single delivery slot in 3 weeks.
