Absolutely livid, that U.K. scrapping quarantine for amber list, applies only to U.K. residents vaccinated in U.K. it seems!
It’s absolutely ludicrous.

There is an entire cottage industry of testing which has sprung up raking in £millions. Since we're not eligible for the UK amber list exemption, the next best option is a 5 day 'early test to release' scheme which retail from between £200 and £320 for the 3 tests (plus the test we do from here to enter the UK)

Quite a racket

Absolutely. Especially when there are three of you travelling, it makes travelling to the uk to visit family a pretty expensive business.

And that’s not even factoring in the accommodation costs potentially required for quarantine.

I suspect it's wording used to please the British/English who want to go abroad on holiday but who don't want dirty foreigners bringing the virus in.

Possibly extension to those vaccinated elsewhere will be brought in quietly.

British citizens have automatic residency rights so I'm not sure how they would enforce the "resident" part.

Don't forget Switzerland for a very long time only let citizens/residents in.

It's the usual case of a poorly communicated early message to be clarified 'later'.

You could probably convince border control that you are resident, but your Swiss vaccination certificate would be rejected

This. I am on day 4 of quarantine, cheekily or foolishly head out to run at 6:30 each am so hopefully back in time for any calls or visits. Was phoned on day 2, day 3 (was in a phone-call so didn’t pick up) and today. Via a bad connection I listened to the poor soul read the script and answered yes appropriately. Whereas I assumed with the tracking number linked to Passenger locator form and day 2/8 tests they would automatically log result I was asked the day 2 result and told they can’t see it. Pointed out I’m going for TTR tmrw, no cuppahs til I’m back. All totalled £195 on me and 37 Billion on Boris’ subjects

Seriously WTF?!?
This is pure jingoistic, Brexit inspired nonsense. Why the hell should the rest of Europe accept British visitors or their 'vaccine' certificates if that same courtesy is not extended? This is anti science and anti common sense which seems to be a hallmark of Johnson's government.
Yep, WTAF.

I don’t underestimate for a second just how difficult the last 16 months have been for those who have not been able to travel to see their families , and the tourism and for the aviation sector itself, of course, and no minister, let alone transport secretary, would want to ever curtail freedom and ask people not to travel,” Shapps said.
Really? He really thinks he understands that? How does he square that with refusing to accept our perfectly valid vaccination certificates then?

Can my UK-vaccinated family member (UK citizen, UK resident) prove their vaccination status so they don’t have to quarantine in Switzerland? As in, which Swiss-recognised documentation do they need to obtain to demonstrate their vaccination status?

Absolute disgrace, how can they not recognise any certificate from any other country?!?!! UK citizens around the world again screwed by their own government. I'm desperate to try and get back to visit my sick mum, but Matt Hancock, Dominic Cummings etc can do just whatever they please with no repercussions.

Oh that’s easy. Switzerland recognizes the EU Covid vaccination certificate.

Oh, wait …

Yes. They need the print out of their NHS vaccination certificate. Switzerland recognises any WHO approved vaccination.

I‘ve no big issue if the UK want to apply that rule - I‘m a British citizen. I‘m only going back to see my family. Anyone who thinks it‘s a good year for a random holiday there needs their head read anyway, no way I‘d be going there for any other reason than to see my family (who I‘ve not seen for at least a year).

What happened to following the science? I was vaccinated with a vaccine approved and administered in the UK - what scientific difference does it make that I received it in Switzerland?

£89 for days 2 and 8 tests combined, plus £49 for test to release. Prices have come down a lot. But its still ridiculous. I have now moved to the U.K. from Switzerland and essentially my double Moderna vaccine is not recognised!

Can you ask your GP to update your NHS covid record? That's if you have the vaccine booklet.

I fully expect there to be changes to the details before July 19th, if not even postponement.

It's not that they don't recognise Swiss vaccines. You'd face the same restrictions if your vaccine had been administered in the uk.
Grant Shapps has very clearly stated that only British residents, who've had 2 doses of an NHS approved vaccine, administered by the NHS in the UK, will not have to quarantine upon arrival in the UK. It's repeated on the Department of Transport website here under 'Amber List Countries and Territories' - https://www.gov.uk/guidance/red-ambe...tering-england

These are the vaccines currently used by the NHS, and the list includes both Pfizer and Moderna - https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/corona...%20this%20year)

I mean I disagree with Covid restrictions on the vaccinated, but this is not a matter of treating different nationalities differently. The main people affected are uk residents who are essentially unable to go on holiday.
You should really check out the facts before commenting. Everything changed yesterday - well for people NHS vaccinated it did!

No, they’ve got their hands full.
“ Mr Shapps said: “We want to welcome international visitors back to the UK and are working to extend our approach to vaccinated passengers from important destinations.””

I don’t know what constitutes an important destination, but I guess it will be the EU and America first.
