Scotland was promised home rule/dominion status along with Ireland before the first war, that is how far back it goes.
Yes but unlike Ireland they very much aren't victims of the British Empire or history.

After separatist referendums in 1980 and 1995 Canada basically set out a "Clarity Act" to clarify the conditions under which Quebec could secede from Canada. This involved getting the Supreme Court in Canada to confirm whether or not there was a constitutional right to separation. The answer the court came back with was not unless the other provinces or federal government agreed and not until the terms of separation had been finally negotiated. This legal clarity was able to put any talk of an independent Quebec to bed.

With the SNP saying if they don't win a second referendum they immediately start campaigning for a third, it's time bring in legal measures for the requirements for holding a referendum and Scottish independence. Examples include:

Giving all Scots in the UK a vote
Implementing a minimum amount of time between referendums (30 years or so)
Allowing for local regions where there is majority support for remaining in the UK to secede from Scotland in the event of a Yes vote
No independence until details such as military, currency, national debt etc. have been negotiated and voted upon via referendum

Reasonable in theory, but that's not how it went for Brexit, otherwise Scotland would already have the right to secede why should Scottish Referendum have more complex rules?
I think it would be only fair only if Westminster gave Edimburgh the same conditions it got from Brussels, not more nor less...

You don’t have any rights to a referendum and as the entire UK constitution is based on precedent, it would be the Anglo Irish Treaty of 1921. I doubt very much that even Boris is dumb enough to try holding a referendum in NI on a Scottish departure.

Remember Unionism in NI is of Scottish origin not English.
