| | Re: Sandals OFF on boat | Quote: | | | | | Some Swiss/people in general do not like to be different. They stick to the social norms and rules in order not to stand out from the "crowd" and expect their partners to do the same. I don't know your boyfriend but I do know the type of Swiss you're talking about. They choose a foreigner as a partner (the irony!) and yet want that partner to adhere to their views of Swiss culture. It's a paradox I've never really understood.
Good luck | | | | |
First it's bare feet, then it's "we put Geraniums on the balcony at this time of year" then it's a Swiss woman wouldn't wear that............ On and on and on. It's not about what others think, it's what they are thinking.
Been there, got the teeshirt, got the divorce.

People have put their smelly feet on the seat next to mine in the past. I found it rude, so I just changed seats. There is no black and white answer. |

I think bare feet on the floor is as Swiss as it gets. Bare feet on any seat is a no-no for me, no exceptions. But that's just me. Many people do it, I detest it.

Tom | | | | | Depends. Did you wear socks in the sandals? Saw my first socks-in-sandal-guy for this season the other day. | Quote: | | | | | First it's bare feet, then it's "we put Geraniums on the balcony at this time of year" then it's a Swiss woman wouldn't wear that............ Tom | | | | | I used to do that in my office in the U.K. Lots of people had bare feet too.

Tom | | | | | We call this "German pensioner look"
From May to October you can find those creatures all around Mediterranean, usually moving around in huge Wohnmobils.

If I'd took a 12 hour flight to a nice beach, I'd just mingle with the locals......wait, I'm a local over there. Well, the point is short and sandals are not property of German pensioners.
Back to OP's topic, barbaric and uncultural? Those are words used by insecure people. Don't worry, as long as you don't place your feet on the seat I'd say no prob.

Our office building had no aircon and got stupidly hot in Summer, regularly getting over 30C, sometimes even starting that hot in the morning, due to Security coming round and closing all the office doors, plus the roller blinds on the sunny side going up automatically before anyone got there to close them again. | Quote: | | | | | We call this "German pensioner look" | | | | | Surely that's Socks and Sandals?
