I think it's probably about prioritising the oven and manpower usage. You'll be wanting to produce bread throughout the day, so there will be a very specific plan of what to bake at which point, varying that to produce a few more of the luxury items early in the day may have a knock-on effect for bread or whatever later in the day.

Alternative answer: why would anyone wait until 0930 to buy choccigipfeln? And sane Swiss person would have already finished their z'nuni by then and be getting themselves ready for their 1130 lunch. Anyone wanting to vary from these norms must be discouraged, so they would deliberately remove all the remaining product and throw it away rather than selling it to uncouth foreigners who don't know the correct times they should be eating their meals.

Very much this, doesn't matter if it's just a one-off or a regular thing.

Bakers start their workday at 2-3-4am, it ends at around noon. If you want something they don't generally have, or on a day they don't, or an unusual amount, you'll need to order the day before or earlier.

Speaking of Wurstweggen, I mourn the closing of the butcher in HB Shopville that used to sell hot food. They sold the most wicked sausage rolls, just dripping with artery-clogging goodness. Aaahh, the good ol' days.

But that's lunch, not breakfast!

And a chäschüechli for dinner to round out the day.

Funny, all this craving for Swiss food here.

Actually I've been craving for a Schnitzel (Austrian, I know) with Pommes frites for weeks now. Something I only eat out and maximum once a year.
So maybe it's more the restaurants being closed than the SchniPo?

Morning tea is like a snack between breakfast and lunch, right?

I love these crispy things here, really, especially from certain bakers. But can't do the phyllo anymore. I think I am phyllo-ed out.
