If it's really better, you'll know. | | | | | According to a top sommelier who introduces me to Vieux Chateau Saint André, it's amazingly close, however the chief winemaker worked for Chateau Pertrus for 40 years before retiring & the land is very close by.

And hey, the Pomerol, 1990 was a really great vintage. The 2014 mentioned for the Saint Emilion was decent, but I believe 2017 will not be on par.

…when you sell such a wine, normally you sell certificate with attached address(usually a certified cellar) from where that wine can be picked and drunk …or if this is for collection, just buy the certificate for wine and leave for aging in the same cellar...in your case the valour drop to 10-20% of the certified wine price...

Why not do what wine is made for and drink the bottle? After all, it's a gift.

Stranger than fiction. A recent client gift of a single bottle of 1990 Petrus - perhaps said client recently recognized that Rudy Kurniawan’s concoctions might still be at large – in his cellar?
Breaking news - connections to the cellar break in of mimimi are being investigated by FINWA* who refused to comment due the ongoing nature of... *Federal Investigation Numpties Wine and Aaaargh |

One other thing to consider; Petrus is a well known name - there is a surprisingly large amount of fake Petrus out there.
A good friend (a qualified Master of Wine) opened a bottle of Petrus for us to drink once, and asked me what I thought. It tasted a bit "old" but was otherwise very good...he then explained it was one of the best blend-fakes he had ever tasted!
An expensive gift given readily may not be all it appears?

Oh goodness, open it and drink it already. It's a bloody ing semi-expensive wine not the Holly Grail.

| | Re: How can I sell an expensive bottle of wine? | Quote: | | | | | Yes, it would be interesting to try a glass of such wine. It is just I am afraid that I won't understand what is so special about it. I am not confident in my taste receptors | | | | | Uhm, it depends. We have a friend who has a (mini) wine collection and I was never that impressed. I mean I get it, some are really good but would never invest so much in wine. And my grandparents had a vineyard so will always prefer a certain type of wine.
Reminds me of Johny Depp and his bad records with wealth management "It's insulting to say that I spent $30,000 on wine," says Depp. "Because it was far more." https://www.harpersbazaar.com/uk/cel...one-interview/ |
