Re: No words….

I once sent a postcard to St. Ives in Cambridgeshire and it went to St. Ives in Cornwall, so there!

Re: No words….

Off track, but this Sweden/Switzerland confusion reminds me of all the t-shirts, posters, mugs and postcards I saw in a tourist town in Austria.

I managed to get a proper tracking number from the seller, and according to Swiss Post it is indeed in Switzerland not Sweden

Maybe just the tracking translation from country code to name.

I had that with a delivery from AliExpress which seemed to get all the way here and then go back again, but I think they were reading "CH" as China!

Re: No words….

Apparently Swaziland got so fed up from being confused with Switzerland they changed their name to Eswatini.

Maybe Sweden should do the same. Something classy like, oh I don’t know, Sverige!

There is also a village in The Netherlands called Zurich.

So when ordering stuff online from NL, be very wary of smart forms that auto-fill.
It's a secret well-kept to this day that there was actually to be a Zørich in Sweden, too, according to long term contingency plans.

Anticipating yet another mass-slaughter after WW1, the neutral countries Switzerland and Sweden built strong ties with each other. One of the most apparent signs for this operation is the similarity of the country names. A major part of those plans was to move certain key cities via rail should war break out. That's the real reason the Gotthard tunnel got built, but unfortunately some nitwit screwed up the direction royally.

Originally, the US were part of the operation (hence the Swiss term "sister republic" for them), the idea was to move Berne to North Carolina's New Berne. But Switzerland stopped those plans when Roosevelt confiscated all the gold, the gnomes couldn't have that.

I digress. Well, Zürich was one of those to-be-moved cities. Regrettably those plans fell apart when Sweden refused to further the plans to avoid antagonising the Germans.

It was not a wind up. When I logged into the parcel tracking on the website Etsy, it showed the parcel in Zürich, Sweden. I later contacted the seller and managed to get a tracking code that I could enter into the Swiss Post website and it showed Zürich, Switzerland. I’ve still no idea why the website showed Sweden, but parcel has arrived just fine now.

Well , happy your parcel arrived.

The “wind-up” comment was only due to the image you uploaded and referenced as it looks … hhhmmm … i’m trying to be polite …. It was created in Windows paint…

Maybe you had a reason .. so as to not show private details etc..

That’s how it appeared on my phone screen. I took a screen shot and then cropped it to remove some details for privacy.
