covid cert(ifcate) app

So.. I'm done.. received the pdf certificate over the weekend and have scanned the QR code into the Covid Certificate app on my phone.

Er... now what... ?

I guess I'm waiting for other countries (particularly in my case the UK) to say they accept it at the border and/or it is somehow seen as the equivalent of the EU app?

Just spent some time googling its cross-border usefulness but couldn't find anything.

Re: covid cert(ifcate) app

As far as I know, the Swiss certificate is accepted in the EU and vice versa. However, no idea how that works with the UK.

Re: covid cert(ifcate) app

I think the app is already valid for travel within the EU. Whether the U.K. would accept negative test results stored in it - don’t know - probably not as they don’t seem to be taking part in the EU app scheme.

well.. yeah... 'accepted'.. meaning 'oh yes, you are vaccinated'.. but.. what difference does it make when it comes to crossing borders compared to someone who doesn't have the certificate? still have to present test results... (and in the case of the UK still have quarantine on both sides)

The European Commission is discussing with the United States and the United Kingdom the recognition of the COVID-19 travel certificate that will come into force in July in the EU

Ah... that's good to know... maybe some announcements 'soon' (and assuming 'free movement' means no testing and no quarantine)

Many countries already accept vaccination in lieu of tests/quarantine - just not the U.K. unfortunately. (Also not Switzerland for travel from U.K.).

I have never seen a full list, if I have to travel then I check out the website from that country. Maybe reopen Europe website?

Re: covid cert(ifcate) app

Does the name on the Covid Cert. App have to be identical to passport name details?

Two examples:
1) Passport shows a middle name but the app doesn‘t.
2) Pasport shows Swiss style double surname - Müller-Meier, Covid pass shows only Müller.

Airlines accept 1) on ticket bookings and get shirty about 2)…

The Swiss certificate app isn't recognised by the EU yet, but it will be in the coming days according to the news (eg this in French)

Mine only shows first name and one last name (which is fine as that one is in my passport), so not full name etc

That‘s a good question. My passport shows a middle name, but the app shows no middle name and a double last name, because that‘s how my dr‘s office lists me. My passport and residence permit just show 1 last name. Could be a headache.

When I got my second jab at a vaccine centre at the weekend, they asked for my ID when producing my certificate. Maybe you can get it changed to match passport. It also says “only valid with ID” so they should match.

Similar news from Corriere del Ticino quoting Swiss television.
The approval has been granted, the law must be formally published on the EU gazette to enter into force. They say Friday 09.07 or Monday 12.07 at latest.
So CH <-> EU should now be covered.

Note: AFAIU for Italy you still need to also fill the Passenger Locator Form.

Re: covid cert(ifcate) app

My second jab is on the 12th July, is there a waiting period before I am termed fully vaccinated? I seem to remember 14 days but can't seem to find it anywhere in the British press (for that is where I would like to travel).

Edit: I've just found the information here to be confirmed on Thursday 8th July by the UK Govt

Quote:
This will only apply if people have received their second vaccination at least 10 days beforehand, with a similar stipulation likely to apply for travel.

It's 14 days for Italy, so I'm good since Tuesday.

Re: covid cert(ifcate) app

If you are concerned that your name on the Covid app is not exactly the same as your passport/ID, or your birthdate is wrong, it is possible to change them.

(Obviously) each canton is different. Zurich can be done online. You need to supply a scan of your passport/ID:
