Husband has no particular reputation at present
How is travelling to Austria at the moment?

Has anyone been across the border for a vacation recently?

We intend to go next week. Had two jabs already (first jab more than 22 days ago) so considered vaccinated under Austria's rules. Will our Swiss documentation confirming the vaccination be sufficient, or do we require an EU equivalent?

As far as I can see , there are no other forms or tests required in our circumstances (which would be great)!

Re: How is travelling to Austria at the moment?

Entry is easy, you cross the border. I just came back from a weekend there.

They are very into the 3Gs. They will ask you if you're Geimpft, you say yes. I don't know if staying at a hotel needs proof but the restaurants and bars I was in either did not ask or just asked for verbal confirmation of the 3Gs.

No masks are needed in bars and restaurants because of this. You need them in shops and FFP2 masks in doctor/hospital/covid testing facilities.

I witnessed a concert with about 800 people at it over the weekend. Covid is history in Austria, for now.

I haven't stay in any Austrian hotels lately but have crossed Austria several times in the last months and nobody wanted to see any documentation.

I understand the strict stuff is just happening in airports.

Re: How is travelling to Austria at the moment?

I was asked to show one of the three G's at an AirBnb, and at a hotel.

I was there before the new green pass or whatever it is called was implemented, and only had a sheet of paper showing I'd been jabbed. No problems anywhere.
I've heard there's meant to be some equivalency for the Swiss app but I've no idea if this is true.

I was not stopped at any borders when driving. Didn't even see anybody checking except for a bored policeman at the Salzburg border waving everybody though. His sole purpose appeared to be to slow down traffic by reducing the entry to one lane moving at 20km/h.

Are they still smoking in the bars and restaurants? That’s why we stopped going.

Re: How is travelling to Austria at the moment?

We are awash in CH/DE/NL license plates. FFP2 no longer required in shops; surgical/cloth will do. Yesterday I walked into a restaurant and was asked to prove I was geimpfte. Weather is shite, but there you go.

Two weeks ago, they wanted to see documentation on 3G at the border in Feldkirch. International (yellow) vaxx passport was fine.

I was in Vienna last week. No checks to get there on train. Masks in indoor concerts. Checks in all restaurants although not against id except for Opera.

The last time we were there they promised a smoke free environment but had just moved the smokers to another part of the restaurant or bar. It still stunk. Hopefully that has changed.

I crossed 4 times into Austria during last month by car and no questions were asked on the Austrian part. I had no certificate or proof of vaccination with me.

It is also good to know that for the Pfänder tunnel no vignette is needed anymore (if you transit Austria to Germany),

That was the previous "smoking ban", gastro above a certain floor area had to segregate smokers and non smokers, compliance was minimal, closed partitions left open etc. Everything is now smoke free.

I thought that one shot gives you just the 3G signal, and with the second dose you get upgraded to the full 5G capability.

Re: How is travelling to Austria at the moment?

We have 4 peeps in hospital; life is back to normal, or what passes for that nowadays. Reports say 10% of the first-vaxxed are not returning for their second jab. Waiting to see what happens to our numbers after this influx of visitors, but the local businesses are heaving a sigh of relief. We had half a day of summer, now it's raining again...
