From this useful website:

https://www.swissinfo.ch/eng/busines...icate/46981274

"How do you obtain the certificate?
The certificate is digital and can either be downloaded from the Apple App Store, Google Play Store https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...ificate.wallet or Huawei App Gallery or sent to you as a PDF to download by email. "

The missus has a UK vax certificate, which she uploaded to the Swiss app.

First try at restaurant yesterday it didn't scan though. Not sure what the protocol is.

Not sure if this thread already contains this link. I found it helpful to work out whether someone may visit.

Travelcheck (from the Swiss Federal Office of Public Health)
https://travelcheck.admin.ch/home
The Travelcheck allows you to check whether and under what conditions you can enter Switzerland.

I have been keeping a close eye on this too as my parents will come and visit from South Africa over December and January. They are vaccinated with Johnson and Johnson, which is approved by SwissMedic and on the Zurich vaccination website (vaccinated outside of Switzerland), qualifies for a certificate provided you are a resident in the canton, but not yet for tourists/visitors. I am hoping this will change if they do end up implementing the more stringent restrictions, or their trip will be a complete waste.

https://www.zh.ch/de/gesundheit/coro...tml#-792208150
Oh, how annoying, not to know whether it's even worth your parents' while visiting.

In addition to your Zurich link, here are those from the BAG. And as you rightly say, they could yet change.

https://www.bag.admin.ch/bag/en/home...tml#-440105700
Coronavirus: Entering Switzerland (from the Swiss Federal Office of Public Health)

First it deals with covid certificates and vaccines. But then it goes on to say:
You may not be allowed to enter Switzerland.
Before you travel, you should check the following:

Am I even allowed to travel to Switzerland?
You’ll find the answer to this question on the website of the State Secretariat for Migration (SEM) as the SEM is responsible for Switzerland’s entry requirements.

See here, under "Entering Switzerland"
https://www.sem.admin.ch/sem/en/home...tml#1668147653

Only if entry is permitted: what rules are there?
You’ll find the answer to this on the FOPH website as the Federal Office of Public Health (FOPH) is responsible for health-related measures at the border. Please also note the section Additional information for incoming persons.

See here for "Additional information for incoming persons"

How since the UK certificate doesn't scan into the Swiss app or the checker - shows as incorrect QR code?

She can show her UK one until 10 Oct and they should accept it but ideally she should get it converted to a proper Swiss one:

https://www.bag.admin.ch/bag/en/home...ml#-1428730671

Or like I did pay 30 CHF at some pharmacies as per the other thread (I used Amavita in Zurich Hb station), show your UK vaccine pass and your passport and got a Swiss cert whilst I waited.

I phoned the canton, and they gave me link to form to convert to a Swiss one, or one can just tum up at the Impfzentrum and get it done. All sorted.

Is that something new? My daughter was visiting in August. She has the US CDC card and we were told at the site they could not do it.

All my children will be visiting again after the Holidays, and I figure we will still be showing our vaccine status; so it would be useful.

Er, you are not referring to the CDC card available on e-bay for a fiver? They should try and secure real proof, however that might be done where they live.

Nope. it was the real thing. We were actually worried about my daughter's status when she came here, because she works in a hospital; so she was vaccinated last December.

Re: Covid certificate for non-EU tourists

Reviving this thread as my mom is coming from Canada this week and the changing situation/rules are impossible to follow!

From what I understand, the current situation is this: My mom cannot yet apply for the Swiss covid certificate. She can enter Switzerland with her Canadian certificate, and will be able to apply for the Swiss covid certificate as of Oct 18 (at which point she will be able to do so online). Until Oct 24 she can access places requiring a certificate with her Canadian one, but as of thec 24th she will need the Swiss one (which she hopefully will have successfully received by then).

Does this sound correct? Or does anyone know someone vaccinated abroad who has successfully applied for the Swiss covid certificate?

I can't speak for other Cantons, but in Zurich you can go to any vaccination center, show the international vaccination certificate, pay 20 CHF and you will be issued with a Swiss Covid Certificate. I know people who have just had this done at the pharmacy in Stadelhofen. And it is done right there and then.

The condition is that it is one of the Swiss Medic approved vaccinations.

Hope this helps.

This is great information, thank you ! I will look into this. I understand at any rate that she won't be able to get the Swiss COVID certificate before she leaves Canada (she arrives Thursday). It would be reassuring to have it already, as we are hoping to travel (Switzerland, Italy) as of October 22 and it's difficult to plan not knowing if she will have the certificate or not. In Canada many people received two different vaccines as they started with AstraZeneca and then switched for their second shot, and we are both worried that this will be problematic.

It was 30 CHF to do this at Amavita pharmacy in HB so the fee could vary it seems as I did this myself.

This is our predicament. We need to be in Switzerland during Thanksgiving.
We have completed 2 shots of Pfizer and may get the 3rd just before we leave. I have tested negative and husband gets tested every week (spit lab test not rapid), for the last 2+ years; all negative. We come form an area with a low inidence where Covid contamination rate is falling and wear N-95 masks
We waited until 10th October, then 16th/18th for the form to be issued by the Kanton for us to convert our U.S. certificate to CH certificate. Now, we must wait until 24th October. In the meantime, I wonder what the effect of all the protests, as in Rapperswill, will have on the Covid certificate.

Looking ahead to British visitors coming for Christmas. I know the border guards recognise British issued certificates, but what about restaurants and other places that require a certificate.

Any experience or knowledge?

Now I have had a vaccine in the UK and have a NHS Covid Pass. I was able to download the pdf and import it into the app from the Apple App Store: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/covid-...e/id1565917320

It recognised the data but it says "Certificate with invalid signature". Will this therefore not work - what do I need to do? See pic
My brother and his wife are currently here from the UK. Their UK NHS certificates, both paper and on their phones, show up as invalid on the Swiss Covid Check App (available at the App Store).

We have been to the theatre and restaurants with them. The technique is to show your genuine Swiss one first if they are scanning. The UK shows up as invalid, but we were all together there was no questions an entry was allowed.

My advice is to take the paper version and show that as it has the vax date and details on it clearly, the phone versions take some clicking and scrolling to see this info…

UPDATE:
The UK NHS App can be set to “travel” mode to work outside the UK…

I applied for a certificate for my mom using the online form of the Vaud canton where I live. We provided few details (not even proof of dates of travel) and uploaded her passport and foreign COVID certificate. However, the automated email message she received indicates that she'll get a response in a "few days". It also specifies that the foreign COVID certificate must include the seal and signature of the issuing authority. Hers includes the logo but neither seal nor signature. It will be a stressful wait!

I'd encourage you to try applying already through the canton in which you will be residing: https://ofsp-coronavirus.ch/certific...vir/#contents1

Re: Covid certificate for non-EU tourists

Sadly our Canton (Bern) is now no longer accepting applications and is awaiting for the central form:

https://www.gsi.be.ch/de/start/theme...ed-abroad.html

"Due to changes in the Federal Ordinance, it is no longer possible to order applications directly from the canton.

In the course of the calender week 42, the Confederation will make a central application platform available - as soon as this platform is up and running, the link (access) will be communicated."

Does anyone have a link for this form yet? I believe we are in Week 42 already.

Ugh, it's impossible to keep up with these changes! I spent most of my evening on the BAG and Vaud COVID-related websites and can confidently say that the form isn't yet available. The BAG still redirects to the Canton.

I think they will have to keep accepting foreign certificates as long as foreigners can't apply for the Swiss certificate, so maybe we're good as long as they keep pushing back the deadlines?
