I have dyson v7, pretty much similar to this one

I was wondering is someone used a similar model and is significantly happier with a newer model. I don't like throwing away stuff and mine works but could be better.

For standard cleaning is good. Charge enough for the entire 120m2 apartment because you use it only when actively vacuuming. But on the power mode it is only a couple of minutes (e.g. for deeper carpet cleaning, sofa, split around dirt).

Major failure is for getting a bit bigger items/crumbs. It splits them around and have to go around multiple times to collects all the crumbs. A bad example is: one had rice split all around. It was impossible to vacuum clean. The additional brush is better for such things but not good enough plus lots of hair gets caught and difficult to clean.

Another thing I don't like with V7 standard attachment is there's lots of dirt that gets stuck pretty quickly. Is not difficult to clean up but still I hope they came up with a better design in the meantime.

Get yourself a Miele, plug it in and stop worrying about 'range anxiety' or about not being able to suck anything up!

Our Miele is about twenty years old and still going strong.

It must take at least five seconds to pull the cord out and plug it in.

Now you can start to pray that they did not follow Mr. Porsche idea of optimum (the perfect race car is the one light enough to just stay altogether until just past the end of race) .

Dyson are cool and efficient tools. Complementary to a Roomba for large surfaces, it is a wonder. Now, if only Mr. Dr. Eng. Phil. Dyson will manage to create a wireless no-battery vacuum cleaner…

The trigger version of the V7 we use as a handheld around the house/car which works really well for spot cleaning

For general vacuuming around the floors of house, we have a Miele C3 silent

My V10 absolute is much better than my v8. Stronger, lasts longer.

Exactly same for me. I know it takes me much less time to vacuum clean the apartment for standard sessions since switching to Dyson. Also not feeling lazy to take the vacuum to clean small bits and crumbs because it takes so little time.
