I am not a smoker but here is an interesting study saying currently active smokers have less chances of getting infected with Covid19.

The data presented is overwhelmingly TLDR, but my simple brain is funnily imagining the chances of the virus slipping past fire and filter into a smoker's lung and in case it does, will surely bat out of there at the first sneeze
Personally, I think that could be because nobody (other than, perhaps, other smokers) wants to stand near them in public - they stink, quite literally, and while they're smoking they're producing more of that stench and carcinogenic particles as well.

It's a bit like the reasoning some people use for eating a lot of garlic to stay healthy - once you eat enough of it, the smell literally comes through the pores of your skin - so people stay clear, reducing the risk of disease transmission!

Malta is at 82.8 Double vaccinated & 83% at least 1 vaccine, people are pretty neurotic & far from normal.
Which must be pretty much 100% of the at risk population (bearing in my under 12s will be a big chunk of the 17%).

What an appalling demonstration of cowardice and lack of common sense. The pandemic is over there.

Well, Duh! If we had a 90% vaccinated rate we wouldn’t need any restrictions.

Please get jabbed! Thank you.
You don't have any restrictions.
Why do we need to get jabbed - missing us already?

Vaccine take up is huge, they stoped publishing full data but even in the 12-17 age group it's well over 50%. It's claimed that due to COVID the no of foreign workers left so the population is significantly smaller than the 518k that seems to be used in the calculations.

Are you saying that getting a vaccine is an appalling demonstration of cowardice and lack of common sense? It’s free, it takes about 45 seconds, and it prevents you from getting sick…where’s the lack of common sense? Around 2 billion of flu shots are made every year, and I don’t hear people rallying in the streets againts the stupidity of getting a simple shot to prevent getting the flu.

-It's not free, and all citizens don't even have the choice, because of access barriers
-How long it takes much include all the steps surrounding the injection, too, that it hinges on - how your body reacts to it, how many injections, how far do you have to travel, do you have to take time off work, how much does your journey cost, can you get into the building
-You can both still get sick, and give someone else COVID when you are vaccinated
-There's no decent source of data showing who's seriously unwell or died because of COVID, and no decent source of data showing who's seriously ill or died because of the COVID injection

I think you misinterpreted, with almost 83% full vaccinated if not more of the entire population, it's time to drop all restrictions & FORGET about Covid.

Vaccine takeup in Switzerland is well below the EU average and we have the second-highest rate of new covid cases.

Brownnosing the owners and twice!

Sure, at 83% you can pretty much ease all the restrictions, but not forget about it. You might as well go ahead and finish the vaccination, as reaching 90%+ is not unimaginable. By then it may become just another yearly flu. But I still wouldn’t call getting vaccined, even if 80% of the population already did it, either cowardice or lack of common sense.

i thought covid was supposed to lead to a loss of sense of smell in many cases? So neither garlic nor cigarette smoke will keep the away.

And i have BTW yet to see any reports that garlic eaters are less likely to catch covid.

Hick was replying to what I wrote about Malta.
Switzerland does look like a disgrace when compared 52.81% v 82.8% for Malta & 62.2% for Germany.

Even third countries like the UK that was never going to get any vaccines because of BREXIT is at 65.9%

55% in CZ of double vax. I am not sure how significant the number is if even almost entirely double vaxxed Israel seems to be having Delta invasion, anyways. So..it looks like 62% of all adults in CZ want to vax.

Snippet from Government Health Minister via BBC today about UK long term Covid

“I hope by next year we'll be in a position to deal with this virus with an annual inoculation programme as we do with flu," he told BBC Radio 4's Today programme.”

Well what a shock … not.. slowly admitting the reality now.
