The Swiss Coronavirus thread.

Based on a post in another thread I thought it might be a good idea to have a thread dedicated specifically to coronavirus in Switzerland.

This thread will be exclusively for information relating to the virus here in Switzerland, daily numbers, hospitalisation data, changes to government measures etc.
The general discussion can continue in the other thread but the Swiss specific info will be easily found here and not get lost amongst the general discussion.

Re: The Swiss Coronavirus thread.

If the other thread does not have to do with Switzerland, does it belong in OT then? sweden, US, UK were mentioned more than CH

Has anybody crossed the border recently?

Can anybody share any anecdotes or observations about to what extent the new BAG rules are being enforced or are even enforceable?

Corona virus has been naturalized! Wow, after two years only! I expect loads of complaints directed at BFM.

This is the kind of thread I'd report to be merged. But hey, whom to?

I came back from the UK last Sunday evening. For our flight they checked everyone's vaccine passport/test status at the Swiss border control who couldn't go through the Swiss e-gates. My mate flew on the flight later from City and they didn't get checked - so maybe spot checks.

With SWISS flights (and this has been ongoing for a while already), you only get your boarding card when you can show your vaccination certificate or test.

How they want to check that at the borders? Near impossible I´d imagine. Would be interested to hear, how do you know if someone is exempt or not?

That's changed recently - as of around two weeks ago I've had a boarding pass given automatically when i checked in online at the UK end for the first time in a year or so.

They do a quick check at the gate with an ipad for anyone who has only checked in on line but was a quick look at my NHS app and done.

Re: The Swiss Coronavirus thread.

Hi all, is this the thread where official information made in Switzerland can be shared?

I would like to share these 4 important points, since I am in Switzerland they fit here:

Quote:

If you are healthy, you do not need to wear a mask, unless you are taking care of a person with suspected COVID-19 infection.

Wear a mask if you are coughing or sneezing.

Masks are effective only when used in combination with frequent hand-cleaning with soap and water or alcohol-based hand rub.

If you wear a mask, then you must know how to use it and dispose of it properly.
https://www.who.int/indonesia/news/d...id-19-outbreak

Please do not get trapped in the false security feeling, please do not depict all people having questions as Covid-deniers etcetc ...

I had my large dose of generic shit (bad words, eye rollings, general mildly abusive behavior) from many people last year, let's say starting Feb'20, for wearing a mask in public.

I am quite sure that exact the same people are now actively having eye rollings, bad words, general mildly abusive behavior towards the so-called novaxxers/Rimoldi's fellows/etcetc. Yes, dear smartypanty, I know you are thinking I was a fool in Feb'20 because by using a mask I was using important protective tools for the health professional ... please, cut that crap, if everyone would have used a mask, the COVID pandemic would have had much less impact. Otherwise, why did we use the masks for so many months?

Maybe things have changed but I flew home from Alicante in July or thereabouts. They were checking people had certificates but then just waving a piece of paper or a QR code on a phone in their general direction was good enough. They didn't actually scan anything or check what was written. They also only had one desk open to check in an entire flight and the closer the departure time got the quicker they were in happily waving people through.

On arrival in ZRH nobody checked anything.

I wonder if this sort of thing has been straightened out by now?

They also say local trips are exempt. But how can they verify where you are coming from and where you are going?

Went shopping to France this week. No checks in either direction.

Re: The Swiss Coronavirus thread.

Zero real world implementation of mask rules since start of the whole Corona thing in parts of Zurich.

If Corona is so deadly and if masks help, then why are the rules not being strictly enforced on public transport? Why am I being left at the mercy of people with no mask on? It is around 20-40% maskless people on the bus these days.

Italy requires a covid certificate for bars and restaurants now, coming 1st of October here too.

They only asked if I had one, they were not interested in seeing it.

Last Sunday I was driving on a road near the France border. At some point I saw on the map that houses 100m to our left we're already in France. Joked to wife about international travel and took the first road into France. Drove 300, saw a closed bar, took a picture of the border and the bar with Kronenburg beer sign instead of Feldschlösschen. On the way back to Switzerland the Swiss border police had just arrived and they were installing traffic cones, looked at us with interest, I braked but they made the sign to continue. NOt sure if this is covid related or just their random checks at the smallest roads you can imagine. Anyway, they were ready to make questions

I crossed the Bardonnex FR/CH this morning, going and coming back no questions at all. Guards standing but looking mostly for meat and alcohol, the usual

In Basel they even have tram lines crossing the border. Two lines go to France and one goes to Germany. I wonder how they intend to do 100% checks there without bringing the entire system to its knees.
