There's your problem! Fact checking on a forum, how dare you.

You were banned for 24 hours. Under the regime you keep raving about, I was banned for two weeks for complaining about a mod's selective deleting of posts.
Neither of you should have been banned.

I did say that Tom should not have been banned for 2 weeks Even though I did not know the context.

@ Pewpewpew- I know it was not directed at me, but if we use logic, then people who were against the first defrocking should be against the second defrocking too on principle.

And if people truly cared about fairness, then one defrocked mod from each gang should have been reinstated. For example, 22 Yards and FMF.

Instead, probably hero Chuff will become the next mod So far I have not seen any thread on Reddit saying that Antifa have taken over EF.

I, on the contrary, have the impression that folks are behaving quite well since the "great reset". But hey, each to their own.
We can agree to disagree on pretty much everything now, in a civil way.
Problem is that in an echo chamber there is not much disagreement

This video sums up the mindset of most here and the world in general-

To use a football analogy, persistent fouling, even if all minor, will eventually get you a yellow card.

Persistent? Eventually? Your first post is from 24 Sept, so either you are indeed "reborn" or you have witnessed zilch on this forum and the mod debate and have no idea what you are talking about.

I was literally banned yesterday because one or more of you went crying to the moderators. There is no further proof needed that I was right.

Enjoy it while you can, as the old adage goes, be careful what you wish for...
This is slightly analogous to gay adoption.

In the same way that just because a gay couple go to the adoption agency, doesn't mean they will necessarily get a baby without merit, if someone goes to the mods here (if that's what happened - they seem to be pretty adept at hovering from what I can tell atm) it doesn't mean the other person will have posts deleted or get banned without merit.

You were banned for 24 hours. Under the regime you keep raving about, I was banned for two weeks for complaining about a mod's selective deleting of posts.

It used to be a case before that, that if a thread went off-topic, but was still worth pursing, all the posts got moved to the applicable old or new thread and not just a select few on the whim of a moderator with pretty known biased views.

Was I more annoyed than I should have been? Perhaps, but I had spent some time fact-checking on the BAG website before making my post.
I don't know why you were banned, I certainly never called for it, and I believe I said you shouldn't have been banned at the time. I've never called for anyone to be banned.

I didn't even know that Moderator either tbh, he just showed up out of the blue rather like the two we have now. Having been absent for so long he/she probably shouldn't have stayed in the role.

Ultimately we're talking about different issues. Yours was with a moderator, mine has more to do with the Cancel Culture we're seeing entering into every facet of life these days. Instead of discussing points people rather go crying to whoever in order to get something deleted.

Or a long time listener, first time caller.

Whichever it may be, you are certainly aware that I am correct in this instance and it is hardly a first offence. It may have been accepted, or even encouraged before, but now we seem to have more even-handed moderation that discourages such nonsense.

No, actually - that same mod closed a Trump thread as it was getting mainly anti-Trump posts. Isn't that Cancel Culture too?

As there is a remote possibility that Trump could stand again and get re-elected, and as U.S. foreign policy can have an overbearing effect on the rest of the world - I don't think a Trump thread is out of place on this forum.

If a group of people with non-echo chamber views choose not to post anymore then you cannot force them, maybe offer them free thelocal subscriptions

Or maybe they have been convinced and no longer support those views?

When one poster just takes over a thread in an endless stream of conversation seemingly with themselves then I'd actually call that moderation.

It says it all when a new one us opened up with the line "This is your thread".

Fortunately there is an ignore button.

I would have left it open. Marton does tend to overdo with his Anti Trump and Biden can do no wrong web links. Still, I think he should be allowed to on one single Trump thread

For the record, I think Biden is a useless president

Which people can use rather than close a thread.

Obviously a moderator has to read threads but if they find one particularly unsavoury to their own viewpoint, I'm sure they could ask another mod to check the thread over.

Should this forum be mainly political (or rather address issues that foreigners living in CH might encounter)? I think this is exactly why the great reset took place and the one the Local doesn't want to be responsible for.

Were you talking about the "Word of Today" thread which is now attracting much wider participation?

Why does it have to be one or the other? This forum was not started by The local. If someone does not want to discuss such stuff then why visit the section clearly labelled "International affairs/politics"
