Helping Ukrainian Refugees in Zurich (for a Russian-speaking Ukrainian)

Hi, I'm Ukrainian-American and left Ukraine country for a work trip the week that the crisis began. After not being able to go back, I decided to come to Switzerland since I have connections here from when I studied at ETH.

Considering I have friends to stay with and know the country, I'm in a relatively good place and was wondering if there might be ways for me to help fellow-Ukrainians who don't know the culture and who don't speak English or German to get by. Anyone doing work or know who to get in touch with?

I'd suggest checking some of the posts here:

Additionally, contacting any churches in your area.

Perhaps you should contact the government and see if they require you to help with translation.

Canton Zurich offers a helpline for volunteers

"The canton administration receives numerous inquiries from civil society every day. Many do not want to stand by but actively help. The cantonal social welfare office has set up a central helpline since March 1, 2022. She can be reached at ukraine@sa.zh.ch or by phone on 043 259 24 41 (from 8.30 a.m. to 11.30 a.m. and from 1.30 p.m. to 4.30 p.m.). "

You may help us to greet arriving refugees on Zurich HB if you want.
