Re: Traditional/Latin Catholic Mass in or around Lugano?

List of churches in Switzerland holding the Latin mass:

https://www.pro-missa-tridentina.org...sdienste_3.htm

Looks like two possibilities in Tessin:

Santa Marta, Via Santa Marta,

I don't know how current this info is, so call to confirm.

Thanks for the info @meloncollie

I also got this reply from emailing the Diocesi Lugano:

Quote:

Cordiali saluti.

Carona is on top of San Salvatore so kind of a cool location, and reachable from Lugano by bus.

Re: Traditional/Latin Catholic Mass in or around Lugano?

If you are willing to train-trip to Italy (1:40h trip each way), there's one in Legnano (Traditional Ambrosian Rite) - but not in August:

Interesting. I did take a trip to Milan on Saturday. But Sunday I went to the one in Carona (Lugano) I mention above. It was legit (very traditional as far as I could tell). The only thing I noticed is they moved sort of fast compared to what I am used to.

This Ambrosian rite thing is interesting. I will try to remember it or research it more eventually. I see from a quick look at Wikipedia that this basically means pre-Vatican-II mass. Which to me sounds similar to the (F)SSPX which is kind of the pre-Vatican-II which started in Switzerland and spread to the US for example. But I guess the Italians have their own thing which resisted Vatican II independently (?).

Re: Traditional/Latin Catholic Mass in or around Lugano?

Ambrosian is very different from Roman, and always has been. It is a Milanese thing.

Milano, and many parts of Lombardia and Ticino, as well as some parts of Piemonte are Ambrosian. The rest of Italy (and Switzerland) is not.

Our village is, one neighbor yes, another not.

Lugano and Bellinzona are not, Biasca is.
