Always get your appointments at the beginning of the day, the accumulated delay is far less than in the late afternoon

No, that usually means travelling in Rush hour. Mid morning 09h30-11h00 much better. And I can sleep longer.

When anytime you go home to the US, you open the windows of your guest or hotel room for "luft".
Do they really have windows that actually can open these days?

Thanks! Funniest (and also perhaps the most true) response yet!
Thanks, I think they are all funny but also all true :

Here’s my nomination for the current most embarrassing (but also the most true) response yet:

https://www.englishforum.ch/3458550-post12.html

And for the for the current most succesfully integrated (but also the most true) response yet:

https://www.englishforum.ch/3458540-post6.html

And as for the for the current most succesfully Swiss living (but also the most true) response yet, then clearly:

https://www.englishforum.ch/3458535-post3.html or

https://www.englishforum.ch/3458538-post5.html

And I’m sure that this thread will provide a lot of fun and / or serious, deep thought and soul searching to all of us. Or maybe not

They changed the schedule here to allow a few more minutes to and from Bern. Still averaging 3-9 minutes late.

When in the pub, you stop looking up the exchange rate of £ to chf and calculating what the pint would cost back home.

As the nearest thing to home for me is London and I don't live in Zürich, the answer is pretty much the same. Perhaps a little less here

Re: You know you've been in Switzerland for too long when...

Well in my case, I have been here too long because the country of my youth no longer exists!

- They changed the currency
- They did a complete 180 degrees on stuff like abortion, divorce and gay marriage etc and actually voted very resoundingly for it
- The structure of society changed completely in racial and ethnical terms
- Polish replaced the native language as the second most widely spoken language
- It is actually easier to speak to some people in German than English
- They became one of the wealthiest countries in the world

Not that the old country hand much to recommend it, fair play to them, but for me there is no place to go back to.
