All the rumours are true, they are nasty, false people that only like your money.. They seem polite when you are visiting (= client and therefore spending your money) the moment you start to live here, they screw you over and over again. I am Dutch and come from a similar culture of penny ers but here they are the best. I regret every day that I am here. Since I needed to pay a full year rent in advance and 2 months deposit I am stuck until February. Probably I won't get my deposit back either since to get money from them is impossible. Its a nice place for non-educated immigrants from poor places who marry someone here (The Swiss all marry Ting-Tong's) wedding ring = entrance to Swiss for poor immigrants and the Swiss are perverse people, they are ugly on both the inside and outside and therefore the only way to get a personal slave is marry one from Thailand, Russia etc.. after 8 months here nothing surprises me anymore (I lived in several countries, but this is by far the most nasty one) And never forget how they got rich... that mentality is deep in their system and on top of that no self reflection whatsoever. If you comment the answer is: then off, this is paradise! I wonder if the victims of their theft also think that. My advice: only go here if you have nothing to loose or if you have already a job BEFORE you move. Otherwise you will suffer badly and they will take advantage of every single penny you have
1-Whats a Ting-Tong ?
2-My wife is etc,from Belfast
3- Remind me ,I forgot
4- I had some Dutch neighbor
5-Swiss are perverse, I am swiss
6-I refer to my wife as ,"Mini Choechin" ;-)

I got an email from Adecco in Zurich (and I speak fluently German, English, Dutch) saying this: "We do not help Auslander, that is our policy" I am still thinking to sue them, or just delete this place from my mind when I am leaving January. Please advice? In Holland you will be scentensed for discrimination

We lived for many years in Belgium. We encountered loads of discrimination from people north of the border there, although generalisation and discrimination is rather dangerous normally speaking.

A racist/xenophobic remark from someone who complains that others are racist/xenophobic. It's called being a hypocrite.

Re: Are the rumours about swiss people true

I speak fluently German so language is not the problem.
After analyzing this country and its people I say what occurred to me in the last 8 months. I am in the situation that I do not need to stay, so I will leave for sure. January 30 I am out of here, I am no masochist ;-)
Its a pity though, the country has an efficient system, the way its run by the government is amazing good. Probably the only place in the world where the government is better than the inhabitants.

Sir, I just now transmitted your statement up from "it is a pity..." to the office of Federal President Micheline Calmy Rey, combined with my compliments and thanks for her work and my best wishes for her future. I suppose she will be amused to learn that a Dutch resident here thinks that she and her colleagues are better than the rest

Niels, fortunately I'm not like you, otherwise I'd have to say all Dutch are anuses.

Thank you for your very careful analysis of all the Swiss and for calling me a pervert, ugly on both the inside and outside, and for calling my American OH a Ting-Tong. Could you please post a mug shot so we can admire your heavenly beauty?

Oh, lest I forget, since you know how all the Swiss got rich, could you give me a hint too? I seem to be the only Swiss for whom that profound knowledge of yours didn't pan out. Help please.

Re: Are the rumours about swiss people true

If Switzerland really is that bad, then you could always leave. Living in another country is not gonna be just the same as living in your home country, because erm.............ITS A DIFFERENT FRIGGIN COUNTRY!!!

Also generalising the whole population based on personal experience aint gonna make it any easier or happier for you. It may have been like that for you, but for plenty of others it was quite different. Sure the Swiss have their quirks and living here takes a bit of adjustment, but there is no need to act like the 5 year old who didnt get their ice cream.

So you know everyone in Switzerland personally?
If you hate the people here so much, why wait until 30 January? I'm sure it will be worth losing a few Francs for you to escape sooner, and your apartment can be taken over by someone who appreciates this beautiful country and its people.

You have to face the fact that some people are not flexible enough to make the mental changes needed to live in another country and society.

Making broad and unsubstantiated slurs about a whole nation only reflects on your own inadequacies. There will always be a very small minority of people who come to Switzerland who find themselves square pegs in round holes. Clearly you are one, that or a whole nation is wrong and you are right ...

I'm going to stick my neck out here and say I don't think a company as big or international as Adecco would take the risk of writing such a sentence in any correspondence.

I could understand one of their recruitment monkeys muttering it under their breath at you but it would be corporate suicide to write something like that in an email to a potential client.

Are you sure your languages are a fluent as you think? Perhaps post the exact sentence on the forum and see if it really was what you understood.

You say in your profile you are the General Manager of your own company; were you looking for staff or finding a position for yourself? Somehow, nothing of what you write makes sense.

Could you possibly be starting your own type of "Are the rumours about Swiss people true" stories for the benefit future xenophobes moving to Switzerland to satisfy their insecurities and ignorance, and bolster your own?

If we want to make generalizations, that which someone projects on other peoples and places is generally their own conditioning and the true image they have of themselves, in which case they will take it with them wherever they go.

So true! When I was young, lonely and relatively broke, I blamed my troubles on my host country. With time and hard-earned wisdom, I learned that the same problems followed me -- even back home -- and had to change myself.
