I know this is an old thread and there are quite a few threads on spiders here (reading through them is giving me the heebeegeebees), but I was wondering if anyone knows where I could get some really effective barrier surface spray? The yellow can just isn't working for us!
We live on the ground floor next to a river and especially now the weather is nicer we like to have some windows and doors open and we've had an almost constant stream of spiders for the last few weeks
Unfortunately the only 'windows' in most of the house are doors so we cant just crack open the top. We've got netting in place which helps with flying insects but not spiders apparently.
I remember in Australia every few months my mum would give the outside of the house a good going over with this and it was the only thing that really stopped them. Is there something similar here?
Yes there is. My wife wanted to get it done at our old place (she has a fear of spiders after getting bitten on the eye by one as a child).

'Professionals' will come and spray your window and door frames for a few thousand francs.
I've no details of the actual company but I could find out if you want.
We didn't get it done.

The selling point is to avoid spider faeces and webs on and around your window frames but in reality it's just a way of getting money from people suffering with arachnophobia.

Money would probably be better spent on phobia therapy.

No. Why would there be? In Australia a spider can kill you. Here it will annoy you at most and will eat a lot of nasty insects at best.
Ok, fair point.

Thanks, I'd prefer to DIY. And yes, I imagine you're right about therapy. Also yikes! re: your wife! That's the sort of think I have nightmares about!
